Labor Market Flexibility and Unemployment: New Empirical Evidence of Static and Dynamic Effects

The aim of this paper is to analyze the relationship between labor market flexibility and unemployment outcomes. Using a panel of 97 countries from 1985 to 2008, the results of the paper suggest that improvements in labor market flexibility have a statistically and significant negative impact on unemployment outcomes (over unemployment, youth unemployment, and long-term unemployment). Among the different labor market flexibility indicators analyzed, hiring and firing regulations and hiring costs are found to have the strongest effect.

This study evaluates Hg and Se concentrations and bioaccessibility (element solubilised after simulated gastrointestinal digestion) in 16 raw seafood species consumed in Spain. The concentrations varied greatly (Hg, 3.8-1621 ng/g wet weight, ww; Se, 84-1817 ng/g ww). Only one sample of swordfish exceeded the Hg limit permitted in Spain (1mg/kg), and for this sample the Hg/Se molar ratio and Se Health Benefit Value food safety criteria also indicated the presence of a risk. Rhodococcus sp. strain BCP1 (DSM 44980) co-metabolizes chlorinated compounds and mineralizes a broad range of alkanes being highly tolerant to these toxic chemicals. Here, we present the high-quality draft genome sequence of strain BCP1 consisting of 6,231,823 bp, with a G+C content of 70.4%, 5,902 protein-coding genes, and 58 RNAs genes. This study developed a methodology to determine zones of acceptable voltage profiles for wind power generation connected to distribution systems. Three load profiles (residential, commercial and industrial) connected to the distribution network were analyzed considering the impact on voltage levels and steady-state stability for different wind speeds and wind generator control strategies. The wind generator model is based on doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) and were developed using Matlab/Simulink. Sorption of wine volatile phenols by yeast lees

The capacity of Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast lees to sorb 4-ethylguaiacol and 4-ethylphenol was investigated in a synthetic medium and in wine. Active dried yeast was more effective when volatile phenols were diluted in red wine. Partition coefficients between wine model solution and wine yeast lees were determined and compared with those measured for dried active yeast. They showed a larger affinity of volatile phenols for wine yeast lees than for dried active yeast. The effect of yeast lees on volatile phenol sorption was sensitive to yeast autolysis level and to physicochemical parameters, such as ethanol content, temperature and pH. Recent studies using the masked priming paradigm have reported facilitating effects of syllable primes in French and English word naming (Ferrand, Segui, & Grainger, 1996; Ferrand, Segui, & Humphreys, 1997). However, other studies have not been able to replicate these effects in Dutch and English (Schiller, 1998, 1999, 2000). In Experiment 1, using the same stimuli and procedure as Ferrand et al.
