On international spillovers

Abstract This study investigates the role of international spillovers in generating productivity gains for a panel of 24 OECD countries during the period between 1971 and 2004. We use recent techniques developed in a common factor framework to characterize the global interdependence implied by international spillovers and the diffusion mechanisms involved. Consistently with some recent studies in this field, the evidence suggests that there are substantial cross-country spillovers mainly related to R&D and human capital variables, which contribute significantly to productivity.

On the link between urban location and the involvement of knowledge intensive business services firms in collaboration networks

Knowledge intensive business services firms can play a key role in modern economies by linking localized collaboration networks to global knowledge flows, and by actively serving in support of knowledge diffusion across institutional and sectoral divides. The extent to which they do is dependent on the markets, partners and human resources available locally. El propósito de esta tesis es ahondar en el estudio del subempleo en los jóvenes en España en su primera etapa de desarrollo de carrera, al inicio de su inserción laboral. Se han realizado tres estudios usando 3 sub-muestras de jóvenes en España con experiencia laboral. La muestra se obtuvo gracias al proyecto Bancaja IVIE a través del Observatorio de Inserción Laboral. Koulun johtamisella on keskeinen rooli ikääntyneiden opettajien työhyvinvointiin ja jaksamiseen. Tässä tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin yli 30 vuoden työuran tehneitä liikunnanopettajia ja kahta liikunnanopettajataustaista rehtoria. Tavoitteena oli saada tietoa siitä, mitkä asiat koulun johtamisessa ovat vaikuttaneet liikunnanopettajien työhyvinvointiin ja viihtymiseen työuran aikana. Teemahaastatteluina kerätty aineisto analysoitiin sisällönanalyysin keinoin. Tutkitut liikunnanopettajat olivat innostuneita työstään, mikä voimaannutti heitä. This paper aims to critically analyse the Estonian People’s Assembly (EPA), a crowdsourcing initiative carried out from 2013 to 2014. During the project, citizens could participate in decision-making and make proposals for laws and policies on a dedicated web-platform. Additionally, some people were invited for a traditional off-line debate.
