From monitoring to sharing of attention in dyadic interaction: The affordances of gaze data to better understand social aspects of remote collaborati…
2020
This paper aims to better understand the social aspects of collaborative problem solving (CPS) through studying joint attention behaviour (JAB) in an online game–like environment. To capture these behaviours and exemplify how ‘jointness’ is achieved in CPS in remote dyadic interaction, event-related measures are utilised based on the following multiple interaction data: (1) individuals’ gaze data from CPS task completion and (2) automatically generated log files (i.e. chats and actions) from dyadic interactions. The results give empirical evidence of the detached, individualistic attention experiences (i.e. monitoring and common attention) and of bidirectional relations (i.e. mutual and sha…
Emerging Joint Expertise? Multiagency Collaboration Described in Local Integration Programmes in Finland
2016
Multiagency collaboration is seen as an essential way of working to promote the two-way integration of newcomers and a receiving society. The term multiagency collaboration underlines the diversity of actors in cooperation. Cross-sectorial networks are mentioned in higher strategies as well as in the local programmes or plans for action. But how is multiagency work structured at the local level? This article looks at the examples of multiagency collaboration in the written documents of local integration programmes in the Finnish context. The examples are chosen from different areas. It seems that collaboration is widely emphasized as a goal or a working method. Whereas expertise in integrat…
DISCRIMINATIONS ETHNIQUES DANS L’ACCES AU LOGEMENT: UNE EXPERIMENTATION EN NOUVELLE-CALEDONIE
2016
Pētījuma izlasi veido 585 sievietes vecumā no 40 līdz 45 gadiem.

Pre-service and in-service teachers' experiences of inquiry-based primary science teaching : A collaborative team teaching model
2019
This research clarifies how a collaborative team teaching model (CTTM) can support both pre-service and in-service teachers’ professional development in using inquiry-based science teaching in primary schools. The data were collected via a questionnaire-based survey approach after inquiry projects implementation at public schools in four Finnish cities. In total, 98 pre-service teachers and 51 inservice class teachers were involved in the research. According to their experiences collaborative team teaching was seen as an adequate teaching approach in primary school science lessons. Both in-service and pre-service teachers experienced inquirybased science teaching enthusiastically and receiv…

Vīnes konvencijas par starptautisko līgumu tiesībām 18. panta piemērošanas problemātika
2018
A recommendation system for the prediction of drug-target associations
2022
In this chapter a recommendation system is presented, based on the integration of a Protein-Protein Interaction (PPI) network taken from the Intact database, and a set of associations between drugs and targets taken from the DrugBank database. Depending on how proteins are connected on the PPI network, given an input drug the system suggests new targets. The framework adopted for the implementation is Apache Spark, useful for loading, managing and manipulating data by means of appropriate Resilient Distributed Datasets (RDD), and for the use of the Alternating Least Square (ALS) machine learning algorithm, a Matrix Factorization algorithm for distributed and parallel computing. Finally, an a…
Macroalgal responses to ocean acidification depend on nutrient and light levels
2015
Ocean acidification may benefit algae that are able to capitalize on increased carbon availability for photosynthesis, but it is expected to have adverse effects on calcified algae through dissolution. Shifts in dominance between primary producers will have knock-on effects on marine ecosystems and will likely vary regionally, depending on factors such as irradiance (light vs. shade) and nutrient levels (oligotrophic vs. eutrophic). Thus experiments are needed to evaluate interactive effects of combined stressors in the field. In this study, we investigated the physiological responses of macroalgae near a CO2 seep in oligotrophic waters off Vulcano (Italy). The algae were incubated in situ …
