The aim of this study was to examine what kinds of pedagogical practices predict perceived learning of university students’ social skills in classes where these skills are not set as learning outcomes. Data were collected from students of various disciplines by means of a questionnaire and then analysed using regression analysis. Use of trans-labial ultrasound in the diagnosis of female urethral diverticula: A diagnostic option to be strongly considered.

AIM: To demonstrate effectiveness of trans-labial ultrasound (TL-US) in the evaluation of female urethral diverticula (UD). METHODS: In the study period, 20 UD were diagnosed and treated. All data on demographic characteristics, presenting symptoms, physical examination findings, diagnostic and operative procedures, were considered. Patients were referred to TL-US for diverticular evaluation, using a 2D 7.5-MHz endfire probe. For each UD, size, complexity, echogenicity content, and presence of diverticular neck were considered. Šī darba mērķis ir izpētīt lietojuma norādes piecās vadošajās angļu valodas mācību vārdnīcās, lai noskaidrotu, vai vārdnīcas izmanto konsekventu pieeju attiecībā uz lietojuma norāžu izmantošanu. Pētījumā tiek izmantota aprakstošā un salīdzinošā satura analīzes metode. Pētījuma ietvaros arī tika veikta aptauja, lai uzzinātu, kāda ir lietotāju attieksme pret lietojuma norāžu atspoguļojumu vārdnīcās un cik lielā mērā tās ir noderīgas lietotājiem. Bioremediācijā izmantojamu baktēriju iekapsulēšana algināta gēlā

Mikroorganismu imobilizācija ir viens no risinājumiem, lai uzlabotu to dzīvotspēju. Darbā pētīta baktēriju asociācijas imobilizēšana algināta gelā tās ilgstošai uzglabāšanai. Pētīta māla, glicerīna un kapsulu inkubēšanas ietekme uz baktēriju skaitu un dzīvotspēju. Kapsulas uzglabātas 4 un 20 oC temperatūrā, pievienojot ūdeni vai CaCl2 šķīdumu. Konstatēts, ka mālu piedeva sekmē baktēriju dzīvotspējas saglabāšanos. Kapsulu inkubēšana palielināja KVV/g kapsulu apmēram trīs reizes. Netika konstatēta glicerīna un CaCl2 ietekme. Labāk dzīvotspēju saglabāja baktērijas kapsulās, uzglabājot tās 20 oC temperatūrā. Papildus jau zināmajām baktēriju asociācijas sugām – Acinetobacter sp. un Burkholderia …
