Hop: Histogram of patterns for human action representation

This paper presents a novel method for representing actions in terms of multinomial distributions of frequent sequential patterns of different length. Frequent sequential patterns are series of data descriptors that occur many times in the data. This paper proposes to learn a codebook of frequent sequential patterns by means of an apriori-like algorithm, and to represent an action with a Bag-of-Frequent-Sequential-Patterns approach. Preliminary experiments of the proposed method have been conducted for action classification on skeletal data. The method achieves state-of-the-art accuracy value in cross-subject validation.
Photocatalytic ozonation for a sustainable aquaculture: A long-term test in a seawater aquarium

Abstract A long-term test at a laboratory scale with a closed system (a coral reef aquarium) has been carried out to study the potentialities of photocatalytic ozonation and photocatalysis for the removal of noxious organic compounds in recirculating systems (aquaria and recirculating aquaculture systems) working with a minimum make up of new water. Attention has been focused not only on the depuration capabilities but also on possible negative phenomena, some of which could become apparent only at long times. In two decisions of the First Civil Chamber dated 8 March 2023, the French Cour de cassation indicated that, even though articles 7 and 21 of the Act of 31 December 1971 and article 142 of the Decree of 27 November 1991 referred to conciliation prior to arbitration by the President of the Bar, it was not compulsory. Non-compliance with this requirement cannot therefore be sanctioned by a dismissal.

This is of interest to archaeologists as after disturbances, both short- and long-term, pedogenesis (re-)starts obliterating previous signs. Soil modifications induced by human activity may be linked to pedogenetic evidence for disturbance with archaeological evidence for the cultural activities. A multidisciplinary study of cave wall alteration will be performed to understand the impact of environmental context on the evolution of wall surfaces.
