The consequences on job satisfaction of job–worker educational and skill mismatches in the Spanish labour market: a panel analysis

The effects of job-worker mismatches on job satisfaction are examined using the eight waves (1994-2001) of Spanish data taken from the European Community Household Panel (ECHP). The impacts of both educational and skill mismatches are estimated considering unobserved heterogeneity, state dependence and attrition bias. Dynamic analysis shows that skill mismatches emerge as a much better predictor of job satisfaction than educational mismatches as the effects of the latter are related to unobserved heterogeneity among workers. Moreover, the current level of job satisfaction appears to be influenced by workers' previous job perceptions, suggesting a dynamic structure for job satisfaction.
Inter-industry job mobility in the knowledge economy in Finland

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to investigate inter-industry labor mobility, paying special attention to workers who move into high-tech (HT) sectors or knowledge-intensive business services (KIBSs). This study inquires whether skilled workers are mobile and whether the characteristics of mobile workers support the effective transfer of knowledge across industries. Internet-Based Employer Search and Vacancy Duration: Evidence from Finland

This study investigates the effect of the introduction of the public employment agency's Internet-based service on the duration of employer search. The analysis exploits the introduction of a web-based service by the Finnish Employment Agency in October 2002. The results, based on information on job vacancies announced via the public employment agency between 2002 and 2003, indicate that the introduction of the web service, in general, shortened the duration of employer search. Entrusting to the trade union the procedural instrument of guaranteeing the collective interests of workers cannot depend on the contractual form chosen by the parties to the relationship. Excluding, therefore, that the trade union has an interest in acting in the face of conduct that undermines the regularity of the collective protection action is contrary to the very raison d'être of Article 28 of the Labour Statute to defend the constitutionally relevant rights involved in industrial relations, as well as to the spirit of promotion and support of trade union action of the Workers' Statute.

The contribution examines the recent orientations of the Italian judges, according to which the provision of a forfeiture term, in order to obtain the recognition of some rights, complies with the Italian Constitution. This is provided that the norms that provide for a forfeiture term must be interpreted strictly, because widening their application should infringe the right of defense, acknowledged by article 24 of the Italian Constitution.
