Tarkastelemme kirjoituksessamme ulkomaalaisia tutkinto-opiskelijoita, jotka valmistuivat Suomen ammattikorkeakouluista tai yliopistoista vuosien 1999 ja 2011 välisenä aikana. Pyrimme kuvailemaan Tilastokeskuksen rekisteritietojen avulla, kuinka moni valmistuneista on edelleen Suomessa kolme vuotta valmistumisen jälkeen ja mitkä taustatekijät ovat yhteydessä päätökseen jäädä maahan. Kiinnitämme tarkastelussa erityistä huomiota siihen, kuinka valmistumisen jälkeen Suomeen jääminen käsitteellisesti määritellään mittausta varten. How the Issue of Unemployment and the Unemployed Is Treated in Adult Education Literature within Polish and U.S. Contexts

This paper, based on a qualitative analysis of adult education literature, presents a comparison of approaches to unemployment-related problems in Poland and the US. Unemployment serves here as a lens through which attitudes towards various areas connected with adult education can be viewed. The conclusions drawn from the research can be both the source of reflection for adult educators in different socio-cultural contexts as well as the starting point for further research related to the topics explored in the text

Uniportal bilateral video-assisted sequential thoracoscopic extended thymectomy

Standard video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery has been reported as a minimally invasive approach alternative to sternotomy for management of myasthenia gravis (MG) associated with thymoma or thymic hyperplasia. Uniportal video-thoracoscopy is an evolution of standard multi-portal video-thoracoscopy for management of several thoracic diseases but its role for resecting mediastinal tumor remains under-evaluated. Herein, we describe our experience with bilateral uniportal thoracoscopic sequential extended thymectomy with case and video illustrations.

Hydro-mechanical modelling of a natural slope affected by a multiple slip surface failure mechanism

A coupled hydro-mechanical formulation is presented for the analysis of landslide motion during crisis episodes. The mathematical formulation is used to model a natural slope affected by a multiple slip surface failure mechanism, in which pore water pressure evolution was identified as the main cause for movement accelerations. An elasto-plastic constitutive model is adopted for the behaviour of slip surfaces. Material parameters are obtained by combining the available laboratory tests and the back analysis of some crisis episodes.
