Volcanic eruptions are often accompanied by release of huge amounts of magmatic SO2. Capturing sizeable precursory SO2 flux variations prior to eruption has revealed far more challenging, instead, in spite of the recent progresses in instrumental gas monitoring. Here, we report on the SO2 fluxes variations we detected at Stromboli volcano prior to the effusive eruption started on the 6th August 2014. Abstract We report results from an observational and modeling study of reactive chemistry in the tropospheric plume emitted by Redoubt Volcano, Alaska. Our measurements include the first observations of Br and I degassing from an Alaskan volcano, the first study of O 3 evolution in a volcanic plume, as well as the first detection of BrO in the plume of a passively degassing Alaskan volcano. Shallow submarine gas manifestations in the Aegean Sea: preliminary catalogue and geochemical characterization

The Aegean area, like other regions of intense geodynamic activity, is characterised by extensive geogenic degassing. Gas manifestations widespread on land are also very frequent underwater. The present study aims at producing a first catalogue of these manifestations together with the geochemical characterization of the emitted gases. Sixty-one samples at 21 different sites have been collected by diving up to 15 m depth, mainly along the south Aegean active volcanic arc (SAAVA). The sites displayed very different gas fluxes. SUMMARY Seismic attenuation measurements, especially those obtained from coda decay analysis, are becoming a key data source for the characterization of the heterogeneous Earth due to their sensitivity to small-scale heterogeneities. However, the relation between the scattering attenuation measured from coda waves and physical rock properties is still unclear. Background: About half of patients who have Haglund disease may require treatment by surgical resection of the superior portion of the calcaneal tuberosity. Endoscopic techniques have been described as alternatives to open surgery, but only results of uncontrolled retrospective clinical investigations have been reported.
