Estas son potentes antioxidantes y poseen alta capacidad de secuestrar radicales libres. The incorporation of dehydroamino acid or fragments of oxazole into peptide chain is accompanied by a distorted three-dimensional structure and additionally enables the introduction of non-typical side-chain substituents. Thus, such compounds could be building blocks for obtaining novel foldamers and/or artificial enzymes (artzymes). Publikationen baserar sig på forskningsprojektet Rörlighet bland pedagogisk expertis (PAL-projektet) som finansierades av Europeiska socialfonden. Projektet genomfördes under åren 2010–2013 i samarbete mellan Pedagogiska forskningsinstitutet, utbildningsstyrelsen och yrkeslärarhögskolan vid yrkeshögskolan i Jyväskylä. Publikationen granskar de centrala observationerna i PAL-projektet och ger en allmän översikt av rörligheten och förändringarna bland lärarna i det finländska utbildningssystemet. Materialet till projektet samlades in med en webbenkät (n = 4500) samt intervjuer med före detta lärare (n = 15). I Finland anses läraryrket vara ett tilltalande yrkesval av många olika skäl. Tutkielman kirjallisessa osassa tarkastellaan foldameerejä isäntä-vieraskemian näkökulmasta. Foldameerit voivat sitoa rakenteeseensa erilaisia vierasmolekyylejä, jolloin muodostuu isäntä-vieraskomplekseja. Kirjallisuudesta valittiin tarkasteluun mielenkiintoisimpia anioneja, kationeja ja neutraaleja vierasmolekyylejä sitovia foldameereja ja perehdyttiin niiden vuorovaikutuksiin. Oligoamide Foldamers as Helical Chloride Receptors-the Influence of Electron-Withdrawing Substituents on Anion-Binding Interactions.

The anion-binding properties of three closely related oligoamide foldamers were studied using NMR spectroscopy, isothermal titration calorimetry and mass spectrometry, as well as DFT calculations. The 1 H NMR spectra of the foldamers in [D6 ]acetone solution revealed partial preorganization by intramolecular hydrogen bonding, which creates a suitable cavity for anion binding. The limited size of the cavity, however, enabled efficient binding by the inner amide protons only for the chloride anion resulting in the formation of a thermodynamically stable 1:1 complex. All 1:1 chloride complexes displayed a significant favourable contribution of the entropy term. Most likely, this is due to the …

The topic of this thesis is aromatic oligoamide foldamers. The literary review of the thesis discusses the general features of foldamers and their design and then focuses on the specific examples of aromatic oligoamide foldamers. The experimental part of the thesis discusses the design and preparation of a family of aromatic oligoamide foldamers that can adopt a helical conformation. The folding is directed by intramolecular hydrogen bonding and stabilized by intramolecular aromatic interactions.
