This paper investigates the features of the implementation, conduct, analysis and prospects for the use of massive, open online courses. The article deals with the main advantages and disadvantages of massive open online courses, presents a comparative analysis of research into implementation of massive, open online courses. The article outlines the basic course requirements. It contains an analysis of the current state of such courses in higher educational institutions. The article presents a number of recommendations for the development of the education system towards democratization of higher education
The Potentials of Tangible Technologies for Learning Linear Equations

Tangible technologies provide interactive links between the physical and digital worlds, thereby merging the benefits of physical and virtual manipulatives. To explore the potentials of tangible technologies for learning linear equations, a tangible manipulative (TM) was designed and developed. A prototype of the initial TM was implemented and evaluated using mixed methods (i.e., classroom interventions, paper-based tests, thinking aloud sessions, questionnaires, and interviews) in real classroom settings. Mathematics Learning through Arts and Collaborative Problem-Solving : The Princess and the Diamond-Problem

In this paper, we examine a mathematics education course which focused on collaborative mathematical problem solving in art topics. The students of the course were Finnish primary school pre-service teachers. During the course students investigated tessellations, reflected on their experiences and designed workshops for pupils. The course meetings were video recorded. Students’ work contained elements of mathematical problem solving and gave them experiences of working collaboratively. Augsts angļu valodas prasmes līmenis ir viena no prasībām darbam aviācijas nozarē, kur angļu valoda ir darba valoda. Pētījumā tika izmantota gadījuma izpēte, kuras mērķis bija izvērtēt izvēlēto stjuartu angļu valodas mācību grāmatu un tiešsaistes materiālu lietderību valodas apguvei pašmācības ceļā. Pētījumā iesaistītie stjuarti vēlējās uzlabot visas valodu prasmes, kā arī uzskatīja, ka šādos materiālos ir jābūt iekļautiem ar gramatiku, leksiku un izrunu saistītiem uzdevumiem, pārbaudes darbiem, vizuāliem līdzekļiem, apgūstamo vārdu sarakstiem un dažādiem papildmateriāliem. The PicaLab project proposes the design, development, and assessment of an integrated modular software solution involving sound and music, with the aim of improving mathematical learning in the third, fourth, and fifth levels of primary education in Chile. While these modular solutions were designed as resources for the classroom, students outside of that context can use them too. The present study examined the development of mathematics skills of Kosovar primary school children in terms of their gender, living area, socio-economic status, and achievement level. A special emphasis was placed on longitudinal investigations of the development of mathemat-ics skills in children with learning difficulties in mathematics over a 2-year and 4-month period. Participants were 553 fourth-graders, 85 of whom identified with mathematical learning difficulties were classified into two subgroups: children with low mathematics achievement and children with limited mathematics ability. This study explored drivers of participation in job-related lifelong learning (LLL) among low-educated mature-aged employees and compared them across four Nordic countries. Workplaces can be low-threshold, effective arenas for development of their skills in work and learning. The paper builds on the Bounded Agency Model and theories of learning motivation, human capital, and workplace learning.
