Finnish language students in two North American universities participated in a collaborative chat project as part of their second-year language course. Viedtālruņu pastāvīgā klātbūtne pamatskolas skolēnu dzīvē un mobilo mācību līdzekļu strauja attīstība ir pamats idejai par to apvienošanu, lai iepazīstinātu skolēnus ar jauniem motivējošiem vārdu krājuma apguves veidiem. Atsevišķa gadījuma pētījums tika veikts Teteles pamatskolā. Kā datu iegūšanas metodes tika izmantotas skolotāju aptaujas, intervijas ar angļu valodas skolotājiem, 57 skolēnu aptaujas (vecumā no 10 līdz 14 gadiem) pirms pētījuma, mobilo līdzekļu praktiskā izmantošana, un pamatskolas vecuma skolēnu aptaujas pēc pētījuma. Virtual exchange is an online form of internationalization at home. Students from different countries collaborate in small, international groups on tasks joined by a common theme. They combine their expertise when solving problems together. The teachers act as mentors, providing facilitation and support for the students during the virtual exchange.
