Este trabajo considera la iconografía mariana en la que se representa a la Virgen sentada en el suelo, conocida como la Virgen de la Humildad. La creación de este tipo mariano coincide con la sistematización de las virtudes de Santo Tomás, que dio lugar a una disminución en la importancia de la virtud de la humildad. La combinación de ambas tradiciones culturales ha llevado a una correspondencia entre la virtud de la Humildad y las imágenes de la Virgen de la Humildad. This article presents the results of the corpus-driven comparison between the English-original (1955) and Russian auto-translation (1967) of the novel Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. The aim of the study, which was facilitated by the computer program WordSmith Tools 4.0, was to answer the question whether the differences attested between the English and Russian parallel texts arise from translation strategies [Nabokov was an ardent advocate of literal translation as the only strategy of truly transposing the original text (Beaujour 1995: 716; Grayson 1977: 13–15)], or whether they are due to typological differences between the English and Russian languages. Esito della contaminazione del modello dantesco con innumerevoli altre fonti - dalla letteratura odeporica a quella utopica, dalla prosa religiosa alla poesia burlesca – gli Inferni (1553) di Anton Francesco Doni rappresentano un’opera irriducibile ad un genere predefinito, aperta al gioco intertestuale e all’interazione fra testo e immagini. In una prosa eccentrica e originale, frutto della sua sensibilità manieristica, lo scrittore cinquecentesco ci consegna infatti una potente allegoria della condizione umana, uno specchio rovesciato del mondo come la luna ariostesca, brandendo la penna come una spada per smascherare – tra moralità e ironia – le menzogne della società del tempo.

Questo studio analizza il capitolo « I salinari », del libro Le parrocchie di Regalpetra di Sciascia. È un testo interessante per tre ragioni: dipinge la condizione delle saline mostrando uno scorcio di paesaggio siciliano; pone la città di Regalpetra come esempio universale per indicare la condizione dello sfruttamento dei lavoratori e l’ingiustizia sociale; propone, infine, una lingua ricca di calchi e prestiti. La presencia sobre un arbol de una cartela con tres coronas, como referencia a las tres artes sermoniales de la orden; esto es, teologia, filosofia y retorica, y presentes en otras obras, llevan a pensar que el comitente pudo ser un importante fraile del convento de predicadores de valencia (abc/lag).

Chemical Composition of the Essential Oil of Mentha pulegium Growing Wild in Sicily and its Activity on Microorganisms Affecting Historical Art Crafts

The chemical composition of the essential oil from aerial parts of Mentha pulegium L. (Linné) collected in Sicily was evaluated by GC and GC-MS. The main components were pulegone (50.6%), piperitenone (27.8%) and menthone (6.9%). Comparison of this oil with other studied oils of different populations is discussed. The oil showed good antibacterial and antifungal activities against some microorganisms that infest historical art works.

Sadut kuluvat taidesatujen genreen ja niiden allegoria toimii niin, että niissä eläimet toimivat ihmisen naamioina. Satujen allegorian takaa löytyy satiiria, jonka keskeiset teemat ovat yhteiskunnallinen eriarvoisuus, erityisesti viktoriaaninen sääty-yhteiskunta, perheen ja äidin valta, sekä naisen roolit viktoriaanisessa yhteiskunnassa. With a corpus of one hundred and twenty-seven illuminations, from eighty-one manuscripts painted in France in the 14th and 15th centuries, my thesis examines the construction of the lady’s character, through the texts and the imagery.Between imagination and historical reality, we studying how the representations of this idealized figure, praised by troubadours and authors of the late Middle Ages, influence social relationship about the medieval noble woman. It is necessary to distinguish these feminine entities, one real, the other ideal, both sharing some similarities through the images.Our iconographic study is based on two main axes: social rituals and identity.
