An Overview of Genus-Level Taxonomic Problems Surrounding Argyroploce Hübner (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae), with Description of a New…

2002

Argyroploce unedana Baixeras, new species, is described from the Iberian Peninsula. The species is closely related to A. arbutella (L., 1758), which occurs on most of the European continent; the two species are allopatric. Although they share similar biologies, the two can be distinguished by structures of the male and female genitalia. Genitalia variability is analyzed. Forewing patterns and hindwing anal roll are discussed in relation to their systematic significance. The olethreutine wing pattern is reexamined. A review of the genus-level taxonomic problems surrounding Argyroploce Hubner, [1825] and allied genera suggests a fragile situation in the present systematic scenario within the …

Parasitization ofEphestia kuehniellaZeller (Lep., Pyralidae) byPhanerotoma (Phanerotoma) ocularisKohl (Hym., Braconidae)

1993

Laboratory studies of the parasitism by P. (P.) ocularis into E. kuehniella showed that this parasitoid had a great capacity to parasitize the host. Real parasitism rate turned between 84.5% and 100% whereas effective parasitism and adult emergence rate were, comparatively, lower. Superparasitism rate was low (16.57 %).

Two species of Tortricidae (Olethreutinae, Grapholitini) belonging to the genus Pammene Hübner, [1825]: P. obscurana (Stephens, 1834) and P. suspectana ([Lienig] & Zeller, 1846) are…

Analysing the origins of the strong variability of impact by Tischeria ekebladella, a common mining moth on oak leaves.

2015

Tischeria ekebladella (Lepidoptera : Gracillariidae) is a common moth with its caterpillar often mining oak leaves, morerarely chestnut leaves. As a rule, the mining impact of the species exhibits strong variations according to locations, inviting to investigate quantitatively the respective contributions of the three main factors that regulate the level of minesdensity within host. As the direct monitoring in the fi eld of these governing factors is very diffi cult (when not virtuallyimpossible), we use a newly designed procedure (“MELBA”) which allows tracing back to these factors indirectly, on thebasis of posterior, easily recorded data (in terms of the histogram of the distribution of t…

Immunological priming in the wood tiger moth (Parasemia plantaginis)

2014
