Nel novembre del 2009 il Museo del Louvre decise di affidare a Umberto Eco la direzione di una serie di conferenze da tenere su un argomento di sua scelta. Eco scelse il tema della ‘lista’ conferendo a quella manifestazione il nome di Vertige de la liste a cui seguì un saggio dallo stesso titolo pubblicato da Bompiani. Questa breve nota prende in prestito la stessa tematica che, per via del suo carattere altamente ete-rogeneo, è in grado di coinvolgere diversi ambiti del sapere senza minimamente accennare ad esaurirsi. In 1933, Emil Kaufmann revealed the figure of Jean-Jacques Lequeu to a wider audience for the first time by publishing, in his Von Ledoux bis Le Corbusier, a number of drawings by the then almost unknown architect from Normandy to support the thesis, still debated today, that sees Claude-Nicolas Ledoux's "revolutionary" architecture as the origin of a natural line of sight which, starting from the purity of neoclassical forms, leads directly to the works of the masters of the modern movement. Hallazgo de monedas del siglo III en Lequeitio (Vizcaya) en 1803

Durante las obras de la fuente pública de Lequeitio en 1802-1803 se encontraron algunas monedas romanas de las que José Vargas Ponce pudo ver tres en una colección privada de Tolosa. Con los datos proporcionados por el autor es posible identificar el hallazgo como parte de un conjunto monetario del siglo III d.C.
Biocatalytic formation of synthetic melanin: The role of vanadium haloperoxidases, L-DOPA and iodide

The vanadium haloperoxidase (V-HPO) enzyme, extracted from the brown alga Laminaria saccharina, is able to catalyze the formation of a black precipitate, using as precursor the amino acid L-dopa in the presence of hydrogen peroxide and iodide, in one-pot synthesis. The L-dopa oxidation is a multistep reaction with a crucial role played by the iodide in the enzyme catalyzed peroxidative production of dopachrome, a well known intermediate in the synthesis of melanin. Dopachrome is then converted to a synthetic form of melanin through a polymerization reaction.
