Representation of Latvian Mithology in works of Hilda Vika

The paper includes the study on activities of the Latvian painter and writer Hilda Vika - Eglīte (1897-1963) in the field of visual art (mostly painting) connected with Latvian mythology. Latvian myth characters and themes came into H. Vika’s creative work after 1930 when she married writer and reviewer Viktors Eglitis and resorted to “Dievturība” (Latvian Neopagan religious movement based on folklore, old folk songs and mythology). Actively and productively working H. Vika participated in numerous group art exhibitions. Chaoskampf in the orthodox baptism ritual

The present article analyses the occurrence of the Chaoskampf motif in the Orthodox Baptism ritual and its biblical and Near-Eastern backgrounds. Such statements are direct references to Old and New Testament texts in which water has negative connotations, being associated with hostile or chaotic aspects of existence. In the baptismal interpretation of the biblical motif, sea, depths and dragons are figurative names for demons. The liturgical reinterpretation of these biblical references is the preamble of the baptismal exorcisms. LoRa Technology Demystified: From Link Behavior to Cell-Level Performance

In this paper we study the capability of LoRa technology in rejecting different interfering LoRa signals and the impact on the cell capacity. First, we analyze experimentally the link-level performance of LoRa and show that collisions between packets modulated with the same Spreading Factor (SF) usually lead to channel captures, while different spreading factors can indeed cause packet loss if the interference power is strong enough. Certain features in the decoded signal must be exactly, or very accurately recovered, yet one would like to be as economical as possible with respect to storage and speed of computation. Statistical Modeling of Huffman Tables Coding

An innovative algorithm for automatic generation of Huffman coding tables for semantic classes of digital images is presented. Collecting statistics over a large dataset of corresponding images, we generated Huffman tables for three images classes: landscape, portrait and document. Comparisons between the new tables and the JPEG standard coding tables, using also different quality settings, have shown the effectiveness of the proposed strategy in terms of final bit size (e.g. compression ratio).
