1988
A preliminary report on the usage of carbon fibre prothesis in the repair of acute and chronic lesions of the lateral ligaments of the knee is presented. The authors suggest the sistematic use of carbon fibre as augmentation device in the repair of acute tears in the lateral ligaments of the knee joint.
Actividad mitotica del cartilago articular del conejo sometido a inmovilizacion y descarga
1987
The timidine H3 uptake in the mitosis index into the articular cartilage of the knee is studied in 7 growing rabits without weight bearing. The autoradiography shows that, after 48 hours of inmovilizatinn, the uptake of timidine H1 and the mitosis index is the same in the free knee. The actual role of the joint rnovements in the cartilaginous nourishment is discussed.
2018
Osteochondritis dissecans of the talus in adults is quite common; on the contrary, the juvenile forms are unusual and are usually associated with sportive activities. It is a subject not very studied yet, because the majority of the treatment guides and studies are based on adult cases. The treatment in juvenile forms is still controversial. A conservative treatment of the osteochondritis dissecans of the talus is usually indicated in I and II stage lesions of the Berndt and Harty classification. In these stages, good results have been observed in knee and elbow, nevertheless, in the talus, the studies have shown big percentage of failure. The aim of a surgical treatment of this type of les…
1988
The authors describe 51 cases operated on for chronic anterior laxity of the knee, using a Dacron prosthesis inserted through on arthroscope perfoming on extraarticular plasty and on intraarticular prosthesis. Very satisfactory results were obteined witbout requiring plastering and with early rehabilitation. The importance of careful selection of the sites of femoral and tibial perforation is emphasised, together with complete absence of ruptures.
2020
The isolated instability of the proximal tibiofibular joint (PTFJ) as a cause of pain in a prosthetic knee is a very rare clinical entity, to date we have only found one reference in the bibliography of ATPP instability associated with total knee arthroplasty. We review the bibliography on the different forms of instability and their etiology, as well as the possibilities of conservative and surgical treatment. We present the case of a patient with anterolateral instability PTFJ associated with a primary postero-stabilized (PS) TKA with a mobile tibial polyethylene.
2018
Osteosynthesis is the gold standard in most distal humerus fractures but in elderly patients, arthroplasty may be a better option. The aim of the study was to assess our results with total elbow arthroplasty after acute distal humerus fracture in the elderly. Retrospective study to evaluate clinical and functional results plus complications of all patients from our hospital with a total elbow arthroplasty performed for acute distal humeral fracture. 18 patients were included with a mean age of 77 years (63-87). The mean postoperative range of motion was 89º and the average MEPS and DASH score 80 and 26 respectively. There were 4 complications (22%) and no reoperations. Total elbow arthropla…
1986
A deep shaving of partial resection of the articular cartilague of the patella was performed in a first series of 14 rabbits following a 12 weeks rebuilding evolution. A degeneration of the remaining articular cartilague appeared after the seventh week giving way to severe ostheoarthritis of the patella. 1 n a second series of 18 rabbits a «spongialization» of the articular surface of the patella was performed, an histological study was followed along 36 weeks. The articular surfa-· ce was invaded by fibrocartilagous tissue from prolification and metaplasia of the subchondral marrow. This new tissue became progressively deteriorated from the fifth week. After nine weeks the degeneration bec…
Rodilla del saltador
1988
61 jumper's knees (fifty patients) are studied. Predisposing factors, clinical and radiographyc manifestacions are relationated in order to obtain a more effective treatment. 50% showed radiographyc disturbances of the patellar vertex, 25% had hight patella and 20% condromalacia was associated. Surgery was performed in 10 knees, and conservative treatment in the rest. Poor results and relapses arose in later treated cases. Prevention and early treatment are very important in these cases.
La insercion distal del musculo semimembranoso
1987
The anatomy and function of the distal insertion of the semimembranous muscle in seventeen knees was deseribed in detail
2017
Scapula stress fracture is an uncommon injury. Some cases have been described in sportsmen, handworkers, rotator cuff arthropathy and reversed shoulder arthroplasty; being infrequent the association with crutch´s repetitive load. Treatment should be individualized and depends of patient characteristics, comorbidities and displacement. The article describes a case of a scapular spine´s stress fracture, and a literature review is being performed. Case Report is an 86 year old woman with corticoids treatment history and ilio-pubic ramus fracture. She walked with a crutch since that fractures. Patient begins gradually with pain and limited mobility in shoulder without trauma. CT scan showed fra…
