Performances of Greek and Roman Drama at the Roman Theatre of Sagunto (1982-2008)
2013
Since 1982, the Spanish historical town of Sagunto has hosted the festival of Sagunt a Escena, which celebrated its twenty-fifth season in 2008. Throughout these years, more than fifty Greek and Roman tragedies, comedies, and plays inspired by classical themes have been put on stage between the months of June and September. Despite the heterogeneity of the festival, conceived as an ensemble of plays, dance, and street theatre, the performances based on classical themes have traditionally been considered the pièce de résistence of its repertoire. As a consequence, some of the world’s most acclaimed cotemporary actors, actresses, stage directors and companies such as Irene Papas, Michael Caco…
2014
This paper highlights the very active role of objects in the practice of gift exchange, focusing on the representation of munus and donum which emerges from Seneca's De beneficiis and Medea's tragedy. Examining the function of the gift and its cultural patterns permits a critical comparison with anthropological studies concerning the theory of the spirit of the gift (hau) formulated by Marcel Mauss and the theme of inalienable gifts, elaborated by Annette Weiner. Such an analysis emphasizes the objects' propensity to stimulate the memory of the receiver and to arouse his gratitude. Moreover, the gift, imbued with the giver's identity, is suitable to replace him not only in gift-giving relat…
The effects of perceived value, satisfaction, and advertising on share of wallet and word of mouth in a retailing context
2016
Customer loyalty as a topic has been of interest to managers and researchers for several decades. There are a few antecedents for explaining customer loyalty in marketing literature, and researchers have discussed the consequences of loyalty. The reason for interest toward loyalty is the wide assumption that loyal customers have higher retention rates, they buy more, and are more willing to share by word of mouth (WOM) and electronic WOM (eWOM). This is why loyalty is linked to companies' financial performance. The aim of this study was to investigate perceived value (PEVA) and customer satisfaction as the antecedents of loyalty outcomes, such as share of wallet (SOW) and WOM in a retailing…
