"Yksin en selviäisi" : lonkan tekonivelleikattujen kokemuksia kotona selviytymisestä

Tämän fenomenologisen pro gradu -tutkielman tarkoituksena oli kuvata ja ymmärtää lonkan tekonivelleikkauksen läpikäyneiden henkilöiden omakohtaisia kokemuksia ja niiden merkityksiä kotona selviytymisestä kolmen kuukauden kuluttua leikkauksesta. Suomessa tehdään vuosittain 7 500 lonkan tekonivelleikkausta ja väestön ikääntyessä leikkausten määrät tulevat lisääntymään. Fysioterapialla on keskeinen osuus lonkan tekonivelleikatun kuntoutusprosessissa. Tämän vuoksi fysioterapian vaikuttavuuden selvittäminen on perusteltua ja tutkimuksissa on tarpeellista ottaa huomioon myös lonkan tekonivelleikkauksen läpikäyneiden henkilöiden omat kokemukset. AbstractUsing multimodal conversation analysis, this article analyses language learning as an in situ process during a teacher-assigned, experientially based pedagogical activity. The activity involved a three-part pedagogical structure, where learners first prepared for and then participated in real-life service encounters, and later reflected on their experiences back in the classroom. The analysis details how the co-constructed telling sequences through which novice second language users re-enact their experiences create an occasion for language-focused activity. Since 2020, the teaching of the A1 language starts in grade 1. In order to study the shift to an earlier start to the teaching of the A1 language, a survey of the teaching of A1 languages in grade 1 was carried out with the focus on the most common A1 languages: Finnish in the Swedish-medium schools and English in the Finnish-medium schools. The article examines the teachers’ perceptions of starting the teaching of A1 languages in grade 1. The data consists of 644 answers to an online questionnaire, of which 94 apply to A1 Finnish and 550 to A1 English. Tässä pro gradu -tutkielmassa tarkastelen suomalaisten lukiolaisten (n=20) ja yliopisto-opiskelijoiden (n=20) sekä ruotsalaisten lukiolaisten (n=20) ruotsinkielisten kertomusten rakennetta. Vertaan, miten suomalaiset toisen kielen oppijat ja ruotsalaiset ensikielen oppijat rakentavat kertomuksensa. Tutkimusmateriaali, joka koostuu 60 lyhyestä kirjoittajien omiin kokemuksiin perustuvasta kertomuksesta, on osa aineistoa, jota on kerätty Jyväskylän yliopiston toisen kielen oppimista käsittelevässä Topling-hankkeessa vuodesta 2010 alkaen. This study, informed by Vygotskian notion of mediation and reporting on a partnership between a researcher (the first author) and a teacher (the second author), aims at exploring how peers’ comments can inform teacher assessment and guidance of learners’ L2 (second/foreign language) writing. The participants were 19 L2 English learners in an upper secondary school in Finland. We largely focus on the notes that one pair of learners made on each other’s essays and how they responded to peer assistance. Investigating Syntactic Complexity in EFL Learners' Writing across Common European Framework of Reference Levels A1, A2, and B1

Abstract The study investigates the linguistic basis of Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) levels in English as a foreign language (EFL) learners’ writing. Specifically, it examines whether CEFR levels can be distinguished with reference to syntactic complexity (SC) and whether the results differ between two groups of EFL learners with different first languages (Sindhi and Finnish). This sheds light on the linguistic comparability of the CEFR levels across L1 groups.
