Job Resources and Work Engagement: Optimism as Moderator Among Finnish Managers

The aim of the present study was to investigate the moderating role of optimism in the relationship between job resources (organizational climate, job control) and work engagement among Finnish young managers (N = 747). Hierarchical regression analyses showed that both job resources and optimism exerted a positive effect on work engagement and its three dimensions of vigor, dedication, and absorption. The moderation results showed that optimism can diminish the negative impact of low job resources on work engagement. Recognizing Video Resolution by Monitoring Memory Metrics in Mobile Clients

Content delivery is one of the most successful applications in mobile networks. Mobile edge servers are significantly contributing to the improvement of this type of applications, by also performing resolution adaptations as a function of the radio link quality observed by the users. In this paper, we face the problem of dynamically tracking the perceived video resolution by mobile clients in a mobile edge environment to guarantee an agreed Service Level Agreement (SLA). To this purpose, we propose a protocol-agnostic approach, based on monitoring some memory metrics of a running video streaming process at the mobile client, for identifying the time-varying resolution of the video content.

Abstract This descriptive study sought to understand the complexities of integrative processing during collaborative online reading. Student pairs constructed a collaborative understanding while reading online information about a controversial issue by connecting, combining and organizing information that originated from prior knowledge, self-selected online texts, and discussions during an online inquiry task. L’objectiu d’aquest article és seguir la trajectòria com a publicista d’Anna Murià compresa entre 1936, any en què s’incorporà al Diari de Barcelona i el 1939, data en què va emprendre el camí de l’exili cap a França. Volem constatar l’existència d’una producció ideològica i política important durant aquests anys en els principals mitjans de l’època. L’estudi d’aquest període, el més desconegut de l’autora, aporta noves dades i resulta interessant atès el canvi significatiu que l’esclat de la guerra i el posterior exili propiciaren en la vida de Murià, perceptible tant des del punt de vista ideològic com personal, fet que repercutí clarament en la seva obra.
