Riflessione critica nella pratica del Service-Learning: generare consapevolezza per la cura di sé

2023

The present contribution aims to analyse the experience of 150 students enrolled in the first year of the Degree Course in Primary Education Sciences (a.y. 2022-23), at the University of Palermo. The students who partecipated in the Service-Learning Project PR[A.S.S.I.] "Apprendere Serve, Servire Insegna", valorised the monitoring tool of narrative training: the logbook. The research focuses specifically on this form of experiential learning based on self-recognition, care, and the valorisation of experience as the ordering criterion of personal flourishing. It aims to identify good practices in front of social engagement, to analyse the development of experiences and to promote a self-care…

The Impact of Adolescent Internet Addiction on Sexual Online Victimization: The Mediating Effects of Sexting and Body Self-Esteem

2021

Adolescents’ problematic use of the internet and the risk of sexual online victimization are an increasing concern among families, researchers, professionals and society. This study aimed to analyze the interplay between adolescents’ addiction to social networks and internet, body self-esteem and sexual–erotic risk behavior online: sexting, sextortion and grooming. While sexting refers to the voluntary engagement in texting sexual–erotic messages, sextortion and grooming are means of sexual–erotic victimization through the use of the internet. Participants were 1763 adolescents (51% girls), aged 12 to 16 years (M = 14.56

Charged jet cross sections and properties in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=7$ TeV

2015

The differential charged jet cross sections, jet fragmentation distributions, and jet shapes are measured in minimum bias proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=7$ TeV using the ALICE detector at the LHC. Jets are reconstructed from charged particle momenta in the mid-rapidity region using the sequential recombination $k_{\rm T}$ and anti-$k_{\rm T}$ as well as the SISCone jet finding algorithms with several resolution parameters in the range $R=0.2$ to $0.6$. Differential jet production cross sections measured with the three jet finders are in agreement in the transverse momentum ($p_{\rm T}$) interval $20<p_{\rm T}^{\rm jet,ch}<100$ GeV/$c$. They are also consistent w…

Academic performance in terms of the applied assessment system

2012

This paper examines the academic performance depending on the evaluation and rating system used in the university. The sample under study consists of 30 subjects -taught by 35 professors to 2192 students from 7 different degrees at 14 universities of all Spain-. The results confirm that continuous assessment is the one that best results not only in terms of rate of return and success rate but also in terms of grades.

Influence of Degradative Enzymatic Activities on the Shelf Life of Ready-to-Eat Prickly Pear Fruits

2012

Prickly pear fruit (Opuntia ficus indica L. Miller) belongs to the Cactaceae family. This species is very sensitive to low storage temperatures (< 5°C) which cause damages. The fruits can be peeled, suitably packaged and successfully commercialized as a ready-to-eat product. The main limit to the extension of the shelf life is the production of off-flavors due to different factors, the growth of microorganisms and the action of endogenous enzymes. Lipoxygenase (LOX) and Pectinesterase (PE) are involved in fruit degradation. In particular, LOX pathway is directly responsible for lipid oxidation, and the subsequent production of off-flavours, while PE causes the softening of fruit during m…

Production d’hamburger de filet de dorade (Sparus aurata) d’élevage: caractérisation nutritionnelle et sensorielle au cours du shelf-life

2016

Within the framework of the Work Package 5 «Valorisation de l'image des produits aquacoles» and the activity 5.3 «Innovation en vue de valoriser les produits aquacoles» of SecurAqua project, we have assessed the possibility of diversification of Sicilian farmed fish, through the production of processed products, among which seabream fillets hamburgers. In order to verify the feasibility of the process, we have performed a preliminary study of global quality characteristics of the product, including both the nutritional and sensory aspects correlated to the security and sustainability of the product. Results showed that, in terms of nutritional requirements, the hamburger samples maintained …
