Tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan Suomen veropolitiikan muutosta vuosien 1987–2007 aikana. Selvitän, miten ja miten paljon Suomen verotus on muuttunut tutkimuksen aikavälillä oikeudenmukaisuuden ja tehokkuuden näkökulmista. Lisäksi tarkastelen sitä, johtaako tehokkuuden ja oikeudenmukaisuuden samanaikainen tavoittelu väistämättä ristiriitaan. Tutkimusmetodinani on policyanalyysi, jota teen sekä laadullisesti että määrällisesti. Määrällisen analyysin aineistoksi on aikaisempaan tutkimukseen nojautuen tunnistettu viisi ilmiötä. Pro gradu-tutkielmassani tarkastelen miten kahta afrikkalaista naispresidenttiä - Liberian presidentti Ellen Johnson Sirleafiä, ja Malawin presidentti Joyce Bandaa on kuvattu mediassa. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on ymmärtää miten eri medialähteet(malawilaiset, liberialaiset, afrikkalaiset ja kansainväliset mediat) ovat kuvanneet kahta naispresidenttiä, ja miten naispresidentit ovat tuoneet itsensä esille mediassa. The paper seeks to interpret the European crisis following the critical-pragmatic approach that has been developed by the French sociologist Luc Boltanski. In this respect, the essay aims to achieve two main objectives. The first one is to show how the current crisis can be described not only focusing on its systemic, structural nature, but also taking into account the critical claims of social actors. This chapter ties together discussions of citizenship and social work practice in the context of growing populist and neoliberal political trends in Finland. These political trends are manifested in populist right-wing nationalist movements on the one hand, and in the neoliberal dismantling of the welfare state on the other. Both political trends – right-wing nationalist populism and neoliberalism – tend to separate people into two groups: those who are ‘deserving’ and those who are ‘undeserving’.
