Impact of common property (E.A.) on fixed point theorems in fuzzy metric spaces

2011

We observe that the notion of common property (E.A.) relaxes the required containment of range of one mapping into the range of other which is utilized to construct the sequence of joint iterates. As a consequence, a multitude of recent fixed point theorems of the existing literature are sharpened and enriched.

On Multiresolution Transforms Based on Weighted-Least Squares

2014

This work is devoted to construct Harten’s multiresolution transforms using Weighted-Least squares for different discretizations. We establish a relation between the filters obtained using some decimation operators. Some properties and examples of filters are presented.

Immediate implants following tooth extraction. A systematic review

2012

Objectives: The aim of this article is to review the current state of immediate implants, with their pros and contras, and the clinical indications and contraindications. Material and Methods: An exhaustive literature search has been carried out in the COCHRANE library and MEDLINE electronic databases from 2004 to November 2009. Randomized clinical trials and clinical trials focused on single implants placed in fresh extraction sockets were included and compared. A meta-analysis could not be performed due to heterogeneity of the data. Results: Twenty studies out of 135 articles from the initial search were finally included, which summed up a total of 1139 immediate implants with at least a …

A Life Cycle Model of XML Documents

2014

Electronic documents produced in business processes are valuable information resources for organizations. In many cases they have to be accessible long after the life of the business processes or information systems in connection with which they were created. To improve the management and preservation of documents, organizations are deploying Extensible Markup Language (XML) as a standardized format for documents. The goal of this paper is to increase understanding of XML document management and provide a framework to enable the analysis and description of the management of XML documents throughout their life. We followed the design science approach. We introduce a document life cycle model…

Transforming XML documents to OWL ontologies: A survey

2015

The aims of XML data conversion to ontologies are the indexing, integration and enrichment of existing ontologies with knowledge acquired from these sources. The contribution of this paper consists in providing a classification of the approaches used for the conversion of XML documents into OWL ontologies. This classification underlines the usage profile of each conversion method, providing a clear description of the advantages and drawbacks belonging to each method. Hence, this paper focuses on two main processes, which are ontology enrichment and ontology population using XML data. Ontology enrichment is related to the schema of the ontology (TBox), and ontology population is related to …

Programming languages for data-Intensive HPC applications: A systematic mapping study

2020

This work is a result of activities from COST Action 10406 High -Performance Modelling and Simulation for Big Data Applications (cHiPSet), funded by the European Cooperation in Science and Technology. FCT, Portugal for grants: NOVA LINCS Research Laboratory Ref. UID/ CEC/ 04516/ 2019); INESC-ID Ref. UID/CEC/50021/2019; BioISI Ref. UID/MULTI/04046/2103; LASIGE Research Unit Ref. UID/CEC/00408/ 2019. A major challenge in modelling and simulation is the need to combine expertise in both software technologies and a given scientific domain. When High-Performance Computing (HPC) is required to solve a scientific problem, software development becomes a problematic issue. Considering the complexity…

Modeling Drug-Induced Anorexia by Molecular Topology

2012

Molecular topology (MT) has demonstrated to be a very good technique for describing molecular structures and to predict physical, chemical, and biological properties of compounds. In this paper, a topological-mathematical model based on MT has been developed for identifying drug compounds showing anorexia as a side effect. An external validation (test set) has been carried out, yielding over an 80% correct classification in the active and inactive compounds. These results reinforce the role of MT as a potential useful tool for predicting drug side effects.
