Baustein West und Bauplan Ost. Zur politischen Transformation jugendkultureller Stile in der DDR
2012
Published version of an article from the journal: Norsk tidsskrift for musikkforskning. Also freely available oon the Internet:http://journal.uia.no/index.php/NTM/article/view/63 Within different political systems, youth cultures use similar symbols and styles which are charged with distinct and specific meaning. In the German Democratic Republic, the socialist part of Germany, youth cultures were identified as being a political threat. They created space for communication that was in sharp contrast to the propagandistic ideal of the so-called „socialist personality“ and hardly to control by the state. Based on the example of the hippie phenomenon in the East, the essay explains the way glo…

How to Become an Author: The Poet Isa Asp and Her Childhood Fascination with Writing for Magazines
2021
In this article the author explores the early development of the identity as a writer of a Finnish-speaking poet Lovisa (or Isa) Asp (1853–1872). She wrote her lyrics in the Finnish language in the 1870s, and she is regarded as the first 19th-century female Finnish poet (whose works were published in Finnish). She began writing poetry (initially in Swedish) as a teenager and started her literary career as a contributor to children’s magazines. Asp began her studies at the Teacher Training College in Jyväskylä in autumn 1871 with the aim of working as an elementary school teacher, but she also dreamt of becoming an established writer someday. Unfortunately, her early death meant that most of…
The Old English term heoru reconsidered
2004
Assessing Peer Review by Gauging the Fate of Rejected Manuscripts: the case of the Journal of Artificial Societies and Social Simulation
2017
This paper investigates the fate of manuscripts that were rejected from JASSS-The Journal of Artificial Societies and Social Simulation, the flagship journal of social simulation. We tracked 456 manuscripts that were rejected from 1997 to 2011 and traced their subsequent publication as journal articles, conference papers or working papers. We compared the impact factor of the publishing journal and the citations of those manuscripts that were eventually published against the yearly impact factor of JASSS and the number of citations achieved by the JASSS mean and top cited articles. Only 10% of the rejected manuscripts were eventually published in a journal that was indexed in the Web of Sci…
Media crisis and disinformation: the participation of digital newspapers in the dissemination of a denialist hoax
2021
Disinformation is a communicative phenomenon that frequently feeds on political or electoral topics, as well as other aspects of our reality. This research takes as a case study the coverage given by the Spanish digital media to a hoax broadcast during the Filomena storm in 2021 that insisted that the snow was plastic. The purpose of this work is to analyze the instrumentalization of fake information as an expression of the information media crisis in the current context of disinformation. We set out four specific objectives: (SO1) to study the spread of the hoax through the media, (SO2) to analyze the construction of headlines in the news pieces, (SO3) to investigate the treatment of the h…

Culture of information and information exchange in a public hospital : a study based on the information orientation model and social network analysis
2022
The structures of hospitals have evolved to make them centre on patients and their pathologies, with care procedures that are both interprofessional and interorganisational. This has given rise to work environments made up of teams obliged to collaborate in their problem-solving, with an essential focus on proper collaborative information behaviour (CIB). The aim was to study this behaviour in a clinical service of a hospital in relation to two aspects: information culture (IC) and the exchange of information. This entailed designing a two-part descriptive study. The first step was to administer a survey based on the information orientation model to know more about the service’s IC. The sec…
« Discourse analysis in French communication research »
2014
International audience; According to the conference call, discourse analysis is considered as a qualitative approach, but is it unquestionable? Discourse analysis is born at the same time as computers, is contemporary with the expansion of mathematical and quantitative methods in all sorts of scientific fields, even human sciences. Our main preoccupation will then be : how do practices and theorizations in discourse analysis open ways to reflect the difference between qualitative and quantitative approaches? We propose firstly a presentation of the emerging notion of discourse analysis in France in the 70s, crossing different schools in linguistics, sociology and philosophy of language. We …
