2008

In the context of intercultural online communication, certain dimensions of ICT we might call “figures sensibles” (Boutaud 2006) can be critically useful to understand co-construction, especially when these dimensions are also constitutive of an educational context. Thus, transparency, performance and conviviality help us interpret what can be called collaborative online interaction. Dispositive memory thrives on these dimensions and completes them. It explains in part the continuity of socially constructed identity of the community in question. It is the community aspect which in our context imposes itself despite cultural differences.

Probing the low-temperature chemistry of ethanol via the addition of dimethyl ether

2018

Considering the importance of ethanol (EtOH) as an engine fuel and a key component of surrogate fuels, the further understanding of its auto-ignition and oxidation characteristics at engine-relevant conditions (high pressures and low temperatures) is still necessary. However, it remains difficult to measure ignition delay times for ethanol at temperatures below 850 K with currently available facilities including shock tube and rapid compression machine due to its low reactivity. Considering the success of our recent study of toluene oxidation under similar conditions [38], dimethyl ether (DME) has been selected as a radical initiator to explore the low-temperature reactivity of ethanol. In …

Towards chemical communication between gated nanoparticles.

2014

The design of comparatively simple and modularly configurable artificial systems able to communicate through the exchange of chemical messengers is, to the best of our knowledge, an unexplored field. As a proof-of-concept, we present here a family of nanoparticles that have been designed to communicate with one another in a hierarchical manner. The concept involves the use of capped mesoporous silica supports in which the messenger delivered by a first type of gated nanoparticle is used to open a second type of nanoparticle, which delivers another messenger that opens a third group of gated nanoobjects. We believe that the conceptual idea that nanodevices can be designed to communicate with …

Implementing unified communication : from the perspective of end-users - a case study in Statoil

2011

Masteroppgave i informasjonssystemer- Universitetet i Agder 2011 The number of communication technologies in use have increased dramatically following the advent of modern information technology, requiring users to learn how to use ever more devices and systems and to choose the appropriate solution for every communication need. This adds complexity to communication and by extension also to getting work done in general. Unified Communication attempts to make communication and work easier by reducing the number of devices and systems without necessarily reducing the number of technologies/channels available to the users. The purpose of Unified Communication is thus to gather as many channels…
