{[Hg(SCN)3]2(n-L)}2-: An Efficient Secondary Building Unit for the Synthesis of 2D Iron(II) Spin-Crossover Coordination Polymers
2018
[EN] We report an unprecedented series of two-dimensional (2D) spin-crossover (SCO) heterobimetallic coordination polymers generically formulated as {Fe-II[(He(SCN)(3))(2)](L)(x))}center dot Solv, where x = 2 for L = tvp (trans-(4,4'-vinylenedipyridine)) (1tvp), bpmh ((1E,2E)-1,2-bis(pyridin-4-ylmethylene)hydrazine) (1bpmh center dot nCH(3)OH; n = 0, 1), by eh ( (1E,2E)-1,2-bis (1-(pyridin-4-yl) ethyliden e) hydrazine) (Ibpeh center dot nH(2)O; n = 0, 1) and x = 2.33 for L = 0 0 bpbz (1,4-bis(pyridin-4-yl)benzene) (1bpbz center dot nH(2)O; n = 0, 2/ 3). The results confirm that self-assembly of Fell, [Hg-II(SCN)(4)](2-), and ditopic rodlike bridging ligands L containing 4-pyridyl moieties f…
Spin crossover in iron(II) complexes with ferrocene-bearing triazole-pyridine ligands.
2015
In the search for new multifunctional spin crossover molecular materials, here we describe the synthesis, crystal structures and magnetic and photomagnetic properties of the complexes trans-[Fe(Fctzpy)2(NCX)2]·CHCl3 where Fc-tzpy is the ferrocene-appended ligand 4-(2-pyridyl)-1H-1,2,3-triazol- 1-ylferrocene, X = S (1) and X = Se (2). Both complexes display thermal- and light-induced (LIESST) spin crossover properties characterised by T1/2 = 85 and 168 K, ΔS = 55 and 66 J K−1 mol−1 , ΔH = 4.7 and 11.1 kJ mol−1 and TLIESST = 47 K and 39 K for 1 and 2 respectively. The crystal structure of 1 and 2 measured at 275 K is consistent with the iron(II) ion in the high-spin state while the crystal st…
Hybrid Materials Formed by Two Molecular Networks. Towards Multiproperty Materials
1999
Abstract The possibilities offered by hybrid materials formed by two molecular networks in the context of the molecular magnets are illustrated. Molecule-based layered magnets are used as anionic hosts for electroactive molecules, with the aim of obtaining multiproperty materials exhibiting in addition to the cooperative magnetism other interesting properties according to the nature of the inserted molecules. In particular, hybrid molecular compounds containing molecular species giving rise to paramagnetic, conducting, or bi-stable properties are reported.
Probing optical and magnetic properties via subtle stereoelectronic effects in mononuclear DyIII-complexes
2021
Tapping into the secondary coordination environment of mononuclear DyIII-complexes leads to drastic changes in luminescence and magnetism. Visualization of effects induced by stereoelectronics on the opto-magnetic properties was achieved through subtle modifications in the ligand framework.
Semiempirical calculations on the interaction between dimethyltin(IV) and DNA model system
1999
Abstract The interaction between a dinucleotide triphosphate duplex (DD), mimicking the DNA molecule, and the dimethyltin(IV) cation is studied by the semiempirical PM3 method. The results show that the interaction can occur involving the tin atom and the electron-donor centres of DD, requiring in some cases the presence of water molecules. In particular, the binding of the dimethyltin(IV) moiety with two adjacent phosphate oxygen atoms is allowed by the presence of water molecules coordinating to the tin atom. In this case the tin environment shows a geometry in agreement with 119 Sn Mossbauer and X-ray data.
Child protection in Europe: development of an international cross-comparison model to inform national policies and practices
2015
We report a five-nations project in comparative child protection to provide recommendations on policy and practice to inform the redevelopment of the Swiss child protection system. The Swiss Federal Government and the Optimus and Oak Foundations commissioned the project—collective title: Association Programme National pour la Protection de l'Enfant. We identify the historical developmental trajectories of child protection systems together with common drivers: the evidential basis for the prevalence and effects of child abuse, the co-joining of social and economic policies and practices to promote early investment in children, the influence of children's rights and comparative international …
Diritti dei bambini, diritti delle famiglie. Promuovere e formare le “capacità” genitoriali
2020
The paper focuses on the reasons for the link between children's rights and family rights, in order to highlight that parenting educational competences are challenging risk factor in contexts of poverty and always decisive factor for the actual promotion of the rights of children and adolescents. More precisely, firstly the passages of of the Convention in which the necessity of the family is argued as primary context of children's rights. Secondly, it will be problematized the very idea of children's rights in the light of the "capability approach". On this basis, it will be asked whether, from a pedagogical point of view, the family can, as a whole, be the holder of a right to education…
Behavior of Flavor Compounds in Model Food Systems: a Thermodynamic Study
2003
Physicochemical parameters, such as hydrophobicity, water solubility, and volatility, of four flavor compounds (ethyl acetate, ethyl butyrate, ethyl hexanoate, and 2-pentanone) were determined. The amount of flavor compounds released from different model matrices (mineral water, purified triolein, an oil-in-water emulsion, a carbohydrate matrix, and a complex matrix containing lipids and carbohydrates) into the gaseous phase was determined at thermodynamic equilibrium, at 37 degrees C, by static headspace gas chromatography. The degree of interaction between the flavor compounds and the matrix components was shown by measuring the percentage retention using the water matrix as the reference…
Estimation of the Compatibility Between Poly(Methylmethacrylate) and Poly(Styrene Co Vinyl Phenol) Blends from Dilute Solution Measurements
2006
Abstract The compatibility of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) with poly(styrene‐co‐vinyl phenol) (PS‐VPh) with two different contents of vinyl phenol, 5.8 and 7.2%, in dilute tetrahydrofuran solutions has been investigated by size exclusion chromatography and fluorescence spectroscopy at 25°C. The chromatographic technique permits the evaluation of the preferential solvation at different PMMA/PS‐VPh ratios. Changes in the fluorescence properties of PS‐VPh, caused by its association with PMMA, were used to obtain the fraction of copolymer bound to PMMA at diverse PMMA compositions. Both techniques agree quantitatively in every system, indicating that the association increases when the PMMA …
Protoplasts fromPodospora anserina: Isolation, purification, and transformation
1985
Protoplasts fromPodospora anserina mycelium were produced using the commercially available enzyme Novozym 234. Different parameters involved in protoplast isolation were analyzed in order to establish optimal conditions, and protoplast production was notably increased. For the purification of protoplasts, several techniques based on both centrifugation and filtration were assayed, with filtration yielding the best results. Regeneration of protoplasts was studied on different media and osmostic stabilizers, and about 80% regeneration was obtained. The good physiological condition of the protoplasts produced with this method is demonstrated by the lack of cell wall and high regeneration rate …
