Variación de tamaño de la hiperplasia nodular focal mediante resonancia magnética
2013
Objective: To evaluate the changes in the size of focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH) during longterm magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) follow-up.
Decreased Perifoveal Sensitivity Detected by Microperimetry in Patients Using Hydroxychloroquine and without Visual Field and Fundoscopic Anomalies
2015
Purpose. To evaluate the usefulness of microperimetry in the early detection of the ocular anomalies associated with the use of hydroxychloroquine.Methods. Prospective comparative case series study comprising 14 healthy eyes of 7 patients (group A) and 14 eyes of 7 patients under treatment with hydroxychloroquine for the treatment of rheumatologic diseases and without fundoscopic or perimetric anomalies (group B). A comprehensive ophthalmological examination including microperimetry (MP) and spectral-domain optical coherence tomography was performed in both groups.Results. No significant differences were found in mean MP foveal sensitivity between groupsP=0.18. However, mean MP overall sens…
Multimodal morphometry and functional magnetic resonance imaging in schizophrenia and auditory hallucinations
2012
To validate a multimodal [structural and functional magnetic resonance (MR)] approach as coincidence brain clusters are hypothesized to correlate with clinical severity of auditory hallucinations.Twenty-two patients meeting Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (fourth edition, DSM-IV) criteria for schizophrenia and experiencing persistent hallucinations together with 28 healthy controls were evaluated with structural and functional MR imaging with an auditory paradigm designed to replicate those emotions related to the patients' hallucinatory experiences. Coincidence maps were obtained by combining structural maps of gray matter reduction with emotional functional increased…
A rare case of a coronary artery anomaly detected on multidetector computed tomography
2013
An anomalous aortic origin of the coronary artery arising from the opposite sinus with an interarterial course is a rare condition that is associated with a high risk of sudden cardiac death during or after strenuous exertion. We herein report the case of a 47-year-old woman presenting with chest pain, syncope and palpitations who presented with a rare coronary artery anomaly on multidetector computed tomography coronary artery (MDCT-CA) with prospective electrocardiogram (ECG) gating.
Understanding cultural influences on back pain and back pain research
2017
Low back pain is highly prevalent and places a considerable burden on individuals, their families and communities. This back pain burden is unequally distributed around the world and within populations. Clinicians and researchers addressing back pain should be aware of the cultural, social and political context of back pain patients and how this context can influence pain perception, disability and health care use. Culture, which influences the beliefs and behaviour of individuals within a social group, could be considered an important contributor to the unequal distribution of back pain. However, there is paucity of high-quality research exploring the influence of culture on the experience…
The influence of NiTi alloy on the cyclic fatigue resistance of endodontic files
2020
Background: The aim of this study was to analyze the influence of NiTi alloy in endodontic rotary instruments on cyclic fatigue resistance. Methods: One hundred and sixty-four (164) sterile endodontic rotary files were selected and distributed into the following study groups: A: 25.08 F2 ProTaper Universal (PTU) (n = 41)
Sirolimus-Induced Vascular Dysfunction
2008
Objectives This study sought to analyze mechanisms that mediate vascular dysfunction induced by sirolimus. Background Despite excellent antirestenotic capacity, sirolimus-eluting stents have been found to trigger coronary endothelial dysfunction and impaired re-endothelialization. Methods To mimic the continuous sirolimus exposure of a stented vessel, Wistar rats underwent drug infusion with an osmotic pump for 7 days. Results Sirolimus treatment caused a marked degree of endothelial dysfunction as well as a desensitization of the vasculature to the endothelium-independent vasodilator nitroglycerin. Also, sirolimus stimulated intense transmural superoxide formation as detected by dihydroeth…
Safety and efficacy of biodegradable polymer-coated thin strut sirolimus-eluting stent vs. durable polymer-coated everolimus-eluting stent in patient…
2018
Introduction The biodegradable polymer drug-eluting stents were developed to improve vascular healing. However, further data are needed to confirm the safety and efficacy of these stents in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Aim We sought to determine the 1-year clinical follow-up in patients with AMI treated with a thin strut biodegradable polymer-coated sirolimus-eluting stent (BP-SES) versus a durable coating everolimus-eluting stent (DP-EES). Material and methods We analyzed patients with AMI (STEMI and NSTEMI) treated with either a BP-SES (ALEX, Balton, Poland, n = 886) or DP-EES (XIENCE, Abbott, USA, n = 1054) with available 1-year clinical follow-up using propensity sco…
TCT-664 Twelve-Month Clinical Outcomes Comparing Biodegradable Polymer Sirolimus-Eluting Stent Versus Durable Polymer Everolimus-Eluting Coronary Ste…
2018
The aim of this study is to compare the safety and efficacy of the biodegradable polymer coated sirolimus-eluting coronary stent (SES, BioMime™, Meril Life Sciences, India) with durable polymer coated everolimus-eluting coronary stent (EES, XIENCE family, Abbott Vascular, California, USA) in de
TCT-441 Optical Coherence Tomography assessment of the implantation of Everolimus-Eluting Bioresorbable Scaffolds against angiographic assessment: th…
2016
Bioresorbable Vascular Scaffolds (BVS) are the newest generation of stents for use during Percutaneous Coronary Intervention. However, as history has demonstrated, each development in stent technology has been associated with its own specific complications. With BVS, there are reports that recoil is
