Abstract Polymers obtained from tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) and triethoxymethylsilane (MTEOS) have been functionalized with different metal and metal oxide nanoparticles (NPs), and used as coatings of extractive capillaries for the extraction of polar compounds by in-tube solid-phase microextraction (IT-SPME) coupled on-line to nano-liquid chromatography (nano-LC). The extraction capabilities of the new phases have been studied using several triazinic herbicides with log of octanol/water partition coefficients (Kow) ranging from -0.7 to 3.21 under reversed phase chromatographic conditions. Abstract Purpose: Precise and comprehensive analysis of neuroblastoma genetics is essential for accurate risk evaluation and only pangenomic/multilocus approaches fulfill the present-day requirements. We present the establishment and validation of the PCR-based multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification (MLPA) technique for neuroblastoma. Experimental Design: A neuroblastoma-specific MLPA kit was designed by the SIOP Europe Neuroblastoma Biology Committee in cooperation with MRC-Holland. Based on the single-line equivalent system of a radial distribution network, two simple methods to evaluate two efficient voltage collapse proximity indicators are presented and discussed. The two methods differ on the determination of the parameters which define the equivalent system from which the indicators are derived. Both methods can be conveniently used jointly for on-line applications to assess the state of a distribution system from the viewpoint of voltage stability; the first to monitoring the stability margin of the whole system loading, the second to sharpen the stability analysis at the critical node when the system operating point is in the vicinity of the loadability limit. …

The research concerns a make to order manufacturing environment and two classes of customers who submit orders. The core customers have a contract with the firm at fixed services level (price and due date). The short-term customers submit the orders based on the price set by the firm. In this paper, it is proposed a pricing policy based on fuzzy logic to set the price for the short-term customers. The fuzzy approach captures the state of the manufacturing systems in terms of congestion in order to set the price. With the use of interpolation methods we obtain some results about the domain of an operator acting on the nested Hilbert space {ℋf}f∈∑ generated by a self-adjoint operatorA and some estimates of the norms of its representatives. Some consequences in the particular case of the scale of Hilbert spaces are discussed.

We demonstrate both experimentally and numerically that self-steepening during propagation in a hollow-fiber followed by linear propagation through glass in the anomalous dispersion enables pulse compression down to 1.9 cycles at 1.8 micron wavelength.
Amplifier similariton fibre laser with nonlinear spectral compression

We propose and numerically demonstrate a new concept of fibre laser architecture supporting self-similar pulse evolution in the amplifier and nonlinear pulse spectral compression in the passive fibre. The latter process is beneficial for improving the power efficiency as it prevents strong spectral filtering from being highly dissipative.
Fiber-based measurement of temporal intensity and phase profiles of an optical telecommunication pulse through self-phase modulation

International audience; We propose and experimentally validate an all-fiber based approach to characterize the phase and intensity profiles of optical pulses. Based on three optical spectra affected by different levels of self-phase modulation, we were able to reconstruct the temporal details of pulses typical of optical telecommunications.
