Benchmarking global SU(2) symmetry in two-dimensional tensor network algorithms

2020

We implement and benchmark tensor network algorithms with $SU(2)$ symmetry for systems in two spatial dimensions and in the thermodynamic limit. Specifically, we implement $SU(2)$-invariant versions of the infinite projected entangled pair states and infinite projected entangled simplex states methods. Our implementation of $SU(2)$ symmetry follows the formalism based on fusion trees from Schmoll et al. [Ann. Phys. 419, 168232 (2020)]. In order to assess the utility of implementing $SU(2)$ symmetry, the algorithms are benchmarked for three models with different local spin: the spin-1 bilinear-biquadratic model on the square lattice, and the kagome Heisenberg antiferromagnets (KHAFs) for spi…

GAP solitons in 1D asymmetric physical systems

2008

We present a general approach for studying the nonlinear transmittance and gap solitons characteristics of asymmetric and one dimensional (1 D) systems in the low amplitude or Nonlinear Schrodinger limit. Included in this approach are some novel results on naturally asymmetric systems and systems where the symmetry is broken by an external constant force.

Study of odd-mass N = 82 isotones with realistic effective interactions

1997

The microscopic quasiparticle-phonon model, MQPM, is used to study the energy spectra of the odd $Z=53 - 63$, N=82 isotones. The results are compared with experimental data, with the extreme quasiparticle-phonon limit and with the results of an unrestricted $2s1d0g_{7/2}0h_{11/2}$ shell model (SM) calculation. The interaction used in these calculations is a realistic two-body G-matrix interaction derived from modern meson-exchange potential models for the nucleon-nucleon interaction. For the shell model all the two-body matrix elements are renormalized by the $\hat{Q}$-box method whereas for the MQPM the effective interaction is defined by the G-matrix.

Precision measurement of the half-life and the decay branches of 62Ga

2005

In an experiment performed at the Accelerator Laboratory of the University of Jyvaskyla, the beta-decay half-life of 62Ga has been studied with high precision using the IGISOL technique. A half-life of T1/2 = 116.09(17)ms was measured. Using beta-gamma coincidences, the gamma intensity of the 954keV transition and an upper limit of the beta-decay feeding of the 0+_2 state have been extracted. The present experimental results are compared to previous measurements and their impact on our understanding of the weak interaction is discussed.

enhancement and the Glashow-Schnitzer-Weinberg sum rule

2000

Abstract In 1967 Glashow, Schnitzer and Weinberg derived a sum rule in the soft-pion and soft kaon limit relating the ΔI= 1 2 non-leptonic K→2π amplitude to integrals over strange and non-strange spectral functions. Using the recent ALEPH data from τ-decay, we show that the sum rule, slightly modified to reduce contributions near the cut, yields the correct magnitude decay amplitude corresponding to the ΔI= 1 2 rule.

Searches for the standard Higgs boson

1990

Abstract A data sample corresponding to about 100 000 hadronic Z decays collected by ALEPH at LEP has been used to search for the standard Higgs boson produced in the reaction e + e − → H 0 Z 0∗ . No indication for any signal was found, and a 95% CL lower limit on the Higgs boson mass has been set at 41.6 GeV.

Search for charged Higgs bosons in $e^+ e^-$ collisions at centre-of-mass energies from 130 to 172 GeV

1998

Abstract The data collected at centre-of-mass energies ranging from 130 to 172 GeV by ALEPH at LEP, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 27.5 pb−1, are analysed in a search for pair-produced charged Higgs bosons H±. Three analyses are employed to select the τ + ν τ τ − ν τ , c s τ − ν τ and c s s c final states. No evidence for a signal is found. Mass limits are set as a function of the branching fraction B (τν) for H±→τν. Charged Higgs bosons with masses below 52 GeV/c2 are excluded at 95% C.L. independently of B (τν) , thus significantly improving on existing limits.

Search for charged Higgs bosons in $e^+ e^-$ collisions at energies up to $\sqrt{s}$ = 189 GeV

2000

The data collected at centre-of-mass energies of 188.6 GeV by ALEPH at LEP, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 176.2 pb-1, are analysed in a search for pair-produced charged Higgs bosons H+/-. Three analyses are employed to select the taunutaunu, taunucs and cscs final states. No evidence for a signal is found. Upper limits are set on the production cross section as a function of the branching fraction BR(H+ to tau nu) and of the mass M(H+), assuming that the sum of the branching ratios is equal to one. In the framework of a two-Higgs-doublet model, charged Higgs bosons with masses below 65.4 GeV/c2 are excluded at 95% confidence level independently of the decay mode.

Search for an invisibly decaying Higgs boson in e+e-collisions at 189 GeV

1999

The data collected in 1998 by ALEPH at LEP at a centre-of-mass energy of 188.6 GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 176.2 pb(-1), are analysed to search for invisible decays of a Higgs boson produced in the reaction e(+) e(-) --> hZ. The number of events found in the data and their properties art: in agreement with the Standard Model expectation. This search results in an improved 95% C.L. lower limit on the Higgs boson mass of 95.4 GeV/c(2), assuming it decays totally invisibly and for a production cross section equal to that of the Standard Model. Search for a scalar top almost degenerate with the lightest neutralino e(+)e(-) collisions at root s up to 202 GeV

2000

Data collected at centre-of-mass energies from 189 GeV to 202 GeV by the ALEPH detector at LEP corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 411 pb(-1), are analysed in a search for the scalar top in the decay channels (t) over tilde --> c/u chi for small mass differences between the stop and the lightest neutralino. No evidence for deviations from the Standard Model expectation is found and a lower limit of 59 GeV/c(2) is set for the stop mass, independent of the stop to neutralino mass difference and of the stop lifetime.
