Stability limits of elemental 2D metals in graphene pores

2019

Two-dimensional (2D) materials can be used as stabilizing templates for exotic nanostructures, including pore-stabilized, free-standing patches of elemental metal monolayers. Although these patches represent metal clusters under extreme conditions and are thus bound for investigations, they are poorly understood as their energetic stability trends and the most promising elements remain unknown. Here, using density-functional theory simulations and liquid drop model to explore the properties of 45 elemental metal candidates, we identify metals that enable the largest and most stable patches. Simulations show that pores can stabilize patches up to $\sim 8$ nm$^2$ areas and that the most promi…

A search for neutral higgs particles in Z$^0$ decays

1992

Abstract The search in DELPHI data for neutral Higgs bosons is described. No candidate for the Standard Model Higgs is seen in Z0 decays to H 0 ν ν , H 0 μ + μ − or H0τ+τ− after selections that proved efficient for finding simulated H0. One remaining candidate for Z0 → H0e+e− is consistent with background. Together with our earlier studies, these results restrict the H0 mass to be above 38 GeV/c2 at the 95% confidence level. No signal is found for decays of Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model neutral Higgs bosons to τ+τ−. Limits are obtained for their decays to produce four jets.

Multi-year search for dark matter annihilations in the Sun with the AMANDA-II and IceCube detectors

2011

A search for an excess of muon-neutrinos from dark matter annihilations in the Sun has been performed with the AMANDA-II neutrino telescope using data collected in 812 days of livetime between 2001 and 2006 and 149 days of livetime collected with the AMANDA-II and the 40-string configuration of IceCube during 2008 and early 2009. No excess over the expected atmospheric neutrino background has been observed. We combine these results with the previously published IceCube limits obtained with data taken during 2007 to obtain a total livetime of 1065 days. We provide an upper limit at 90% confidence level on the annihilation rate of captured neutralinos in the Sun, as well as the corresponding …

Impact of Aortic Diameter Measurements at Three Anatomical Landmarks on Left Ventricular Output Calculation in Neonates

2021

OBJECTIVES To assess reproducibility and accuracy of left ventricular output (LVO) quantifications in neonates, when left ventricular outflow tract diameter (LVOTD) was measured at the hinges of the aortic valve (AV), at the aortic sinus (AS), and at the sinotubular junction (STJ). METHODS This was an observational study. In the first cohort of very preterm neonates, we assessed intraobserver and interobserver repeatability of LVOTD measured at the AV, AS, and STJ and of the corresponding LVO. In the second cohort of older neonates, we compared paired LVO measurements by echo and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). RESULTS In the first cohort of 48 neonates, mean (standard deviation) weight a…
