Evaluation of a Chemistry Concept Inventory for general chemistry students at Finnish university

A chemistry concept inventory (Chemical Concept Inventory 3.0/CCI 3.0), previously developed for use
 in Norwegian universities, was tested and evaluated for use in a Finnish university setting. The test,
 designed to evaluate student knowledge and learning of chemistry concepts, was administered as both
 pre- and posttest in first year general chemistry courses at the University of Jyväskylä. The results were
 evaluated using different statistical tests, focusing both on individual item analysis and the entire test.

The lost literature of an author provides data that, in spite of being partial, are important to better understand his preserved work and the complexity of his literary work. This article offers an approach to the losses experienced by Joan Roís de Corella’s literature down the centuries, in the full meaning of the term. It focuses on the analysis of the sources that supply information to establish a catalogue of these losses, as a starting point for subsequent work concerning the causes and periods of the disappearances.

Työn tavoitteena oli selvittää miten ylioppilaskirjoitukset vaikuttavat lukiolaisten ranskan kielen opiskeluun ja opiskelumotivaatioon. Ylioppilaskirjoituksissa ei testata kaikkia kielitaidon osa-alueita, esimerkiksi suullista kielitaitoa. Tämä tarkoittaa sitä, että opiskelijat saattavat kielen opiskelussaan tähdätä vain ylioppilaskirjoituksissa vaadittuihin taitoihin ja opiskelijoiden motivaatio saattaakin vaihdella riippuen heidän suhtautumisestaan ylioppilaskokeeseen. Study guidance experiences, study progress, and perceived learning outcomes of Finnish university students

In recent decades, the massification and diversification of higher education have generated new challenges for the guidance of university students. The present study focuses on students’ experiences of guidance in relation to their study progress and perceptions of their learning outcomes. The data (n = 4916) were collected from 2010–2013 through yearly Internet surveys whose targeted respondents were the students of a Finnish University. According to the results, general study guidance was a very strong predictor of students’ self-assessed development of their academic and generic skills as well as working life orientation.
