The woods in Sicily are the result of centuries of anthropogenic activities that have reduced the surface of wood and changed the original composition even with the introduction of alien species to native flora. The value in terms of biodiversity of these forests remains, however, high for they are the last refuge areas for many animals and plant species. This study was conducted within the Ficuzza woods (West Sicily), extended about 5,000 hectares on the slopes of limestone-dolomite rock of Busambra (1615 m asl), within which lies the largest remaining forest area in western Sicily. Conservation status of the endemic vascular flora of Sicily

The results of a comparative study of the quantitative data of the IUCN risk categories attributed to the endemic taxa of the Sicilian vascular flora are reported. 430 Sicilian strictly endemic taxa has been evaluated by comparing the data of the risk categories attributed by published sources. 400 taxa have received at least one assessment of their conservation status, 30 taxa have not yet been considered. 278 received an assessment of their conservation status in accordance with the IUCN criteria, while the remaining 152 have not yet been evaluated according to these criteria.

Neolentinus cyathiformis (Schaeff.) Della Maggiora & Trassinelli (Gloeophyllaceae, Gloeophyllales, Agaricomycetes) to rzadki grzyb, który na aktualnej Czerwonej liście grzybów wielkoowocnikowych w Polsce posiada kategorię gatunku wymierającego E. Pomimo szerokiego zasięgu (Europa, Azja, Ameryka Południowa) jego stanowiska są nieliczne. W Polsce do tej pory znanych było 20 stanowisk tego gatunku, w tym zaledwie dwa w północnej części kraju. Algorithms for coherence checking and propagation of conditional probability bounds

In this paper, we propose some algorithms for the checking of generalized coherence (g-coherence) and for the extension of imprecise conditional probability assessments. Our concept of g-coherence is a generalization of de Finetti’s coherence principle and is equivalent to the ”avoiding uniform loss” property for lower and upper probabilities (a la Walley). By our algorithms we can check the g-coherence of a given imprecise assessment and we can correct it in order to obtain the associated coherent assessment (in the sense of Walley and Williams). The present dissertation focused on musical affect regulation, i.e. on the use of music to self-regulate affective states such as emotions, moods, and energy levels. In publication I, relevant findings from previous research were extracted and the field’s conceptual clarity and precision was assessed. Conceptions of healthcare professionals about rehabilitees’ participation in goal setting in an acute hospital : a phenomenographic study

Purpose: In acute care, effective goal-setting is an essential phase of a successful rehabilitation process. However, professionals’ knowledge and skills in rehabilitee-centered practice may not always match the ways of implementing goal-setting. This study aimed to describe the variation in how acute hospital professionals perceive and comprehend rehabilitee participation in rehabilitation goal-setting. Šī darba mērķis bija identificēt pārliecināšanas līdzekļus reklāmā un noskaidrot to pielietošanas iemeslus, kā arī saprast kā Latvijas Universitātes Humanitāro zinātņu fakultātes studenti saprot pārliecināšanas līdzekļus. Šajā darbā tika analizēti sekojoši pārliecināšanas līdzekļi: modālie darbības vārdi, metafora, humors, kalambūrs, atkārtošana, vietniekvārda izmantošana, aliterācija, salīdzinājums, paralēlisms vai paralēlā konstrukcija un pavēles izteiksme. Izmantotās empīriskā pētījuma metodes bija teksta analīze un aptauja. Pētījums parādīja, ka reklāmās tiek izmantoti dažādi pārliecinošānas līdzekļi ar mērķi ietekmēt potenciālo patērētāju.
