High levels of HIF-2α highlight an immature neural crest-like neuroblastoma cell cohort located in a perivascular niche

High HIF-2alpha protein levels in the sympathetic nervous system-derived childhood tumour neuroblastoma as well as immature phenotype correlate to unfavourable outcome. Here we show that a small subset of perivascularly located, strongly HIF-2alpha-positive tumour cells (MYCN amplified) lacks expression of differentiation markers, but expresses neural crest and early sympathetic progenitor marker genes such as Notch-1, HES-1, c-Kit, dHAND, and vimentin. The absolute configuration of a chiral molecule is key to its biological activity. Being able to find out what this configuration is, is thus crucial for a wide range of applications. The difficulties associated with such a determination steeply rise as the number of chiral centers in a given compound becomes larger. La importancia de la imagen y su uso didáctico y mnemotécnico es destacable a fines del s. XVI y s. XVII, lo que se traduce en el auge de la calcografía. Me detengo en el entorno del carmelita Quiroga, temprano creador intelectual de imágenes emblemáticas de propósito doctrinal, así como de retratos de compañeros de la orden (incluido S. Juan de la Cruz), evocadores del milagro y en consecuencia de la santidad de los mismos, dando inicio a iconografías muy elaboradas. En ese entorno, veré los religiosos que comparten sus afanes y los relevantes grabadores que saben plasmarlos.
Sampling procedure in a willow plantation for estimation of moisture content

Abstract Heating value and fuel quality of wood is closely connected to moisture content. In this work the variation of moisture content (MC) of short rotation coppice (SRC) willow shoots is described for five clones during one harvesting season. Subsequently an appropriate sampling procedure minimising labour costs and sampling uncertainty is proposed, where the MC of a single stem section with the length of 10–50 cm corresponds to the mean shoot moisture content (MSMC) with a bias of maximum 11 g kg −1 . This bias can be reduced by selecting the stem section according to the particular clone. The average difference in MSMC between the largest and smallest shoot in a stump was 31 g kg −1 .…

A transient collisionally excited X-ray laser has been put into operation using the front end of the PHELIX laser system as a pump laser. Strong lasing at 22 nm has been observed in nickel-like zirconium.
“Two-Story” Calix[6]arene-Based Zinc and Copper Complexes: Structure, Properties, and O 2 Binding

International audience; A new “two-story” calix[6]arene-based ligand was synthesized, and its coordination chemistry was explored. It presents a tren cap connected to the calixarene small rim through three amido spacers. X-ray diffraction studies of its metal complexes revealed a six-coordinate ZnII complex with all of the carbonyl groups of the amido arms bound and a five-coordinate CuII complex with only one amido arm bound.
