The contribution of tear osmolarity measurement to ocular surface assessment in contact lens wearers

Purpose: To determine whether tear osmolarity using the TearLabTM Osmolarity System contributes to the assessment of the ocular surface in contact lens (CL) wearers.Methods: Data were collected from 44 CL wearers (28 tolerant and 16 intolerant) and 34 healthy subjects. Every patient underwent a thorough ophthalmic examination and tear osmolarity test, conjunctival impression cytology and meibomian lipid sampling. Symptoms, break-up time (BUT), tear osmolarity, conjunctival expression of HLA-DR and meibomian fatty acid composition were evaluated.Results: Tear osmolarity was significantly higher in the controls compared to tolerant and intolerant CL wearers (p=0.0007). Trialling the 4C framework in an Indian grade 3 mathematics classroom

This thesis describes an action research carried out in a Grade 3 maths classroom in a low income, English medium school in Mumbai, India. The maths teacher in the study used the 4C model proposed by Do Coyle (2010) as a framework of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) for teaching maths in English to students whose exposure to English outside the classroom was negligible. Tracking of blood vessels motion from 4D-flow MRI data

This paper presents a novel approach to track objects from 4D Flow MRI data. A salient feature of the proposed method is that it fully exploits the geometrical and dynamical nature of the information provided by this imaging modality. The underlying idea consists in formulating the tracking problem as a data assimilation problem, in which both position and velocity observations are extracted from the 4D Flow MRI data series. Optimal estate estimation is then performed in a sequential fashion via Kalman filtering. The capabilities of the method are extensively assessed in a numerical study involving synthetic and clinical data.

The (57)Fe Mossbauer spectroscopy of mononuclear [Fe(II)(isoxazole)(6)](ClO(4))(2) has been studied to reveal the thermal spin crossover of Fe(II) between low-spin (S = 0) and high-spin (S = 2) states.Temperature-dependent spin transition curves have been constructed with the least-square fitted data obtained from the Mossbauer spectra measured at various temperatures between 84 and 270 K during a cooling and heating cycle. It has been shown that the perceiver's mood affects the perception of emotional faces, but it is not known how mood affects preattentive brain responses to emotional facial expressions. To examine the question, we experimentally induced sad and neutral mood in healthy adults before presenting them with task-irrelevant pictures of faces while an electroencephalography was recorded.
