Tämän tutkielman aiheena oli tarkastella naishahmojen representaatioita sarjakuvajätti Marvelin televisiosarjassa Jessica Jones. Tarkoituksena oli tutkia, kuinka naishahmot esitetään dialogin, ulkonäön ja käyttäytymisen keinoin, sekä hahmojen fyysisten ja juonellisten kontekstien kautta. Tarkastelun kohteena olivat sarjan neljä keskeisintä naishahmoa, ja aineistona käytettiin sarjan ensimmäistä kautta, johon kuului yhteensä 13 jaksoa. Tutkimus perustui pääasiassa laadulliseen analyysiin, jota varten sovellettiin aiempaa naisrepresentaatioiden tutkimusta sekä Pearsonin (2007) hahmonrakennusmallia, joka sisälsi kuusi keskeistä hahmonrakennuksen osa-aluetta. There is a growing interest towards metatheoretical examination of linguistic research. This special issue contributes to this examination from the perspective of discourse studies. The issue consists of seven articles which present methods in different areas of discourse studies. The aim of this introductory article is firstly to define the notions of discourse and method. Secondly, through the presentation of the articles of the issue, we present a variety of methods pertaining to different stages of research. AbstractThe current article describes an exploratory study that focussed on joint attention behaviour—the basis of interaction predicting productive collaboration—to better understand collaborative problem solving, particularly its social aspects during remote dyadic interaction. The study considered joint attention behaviour as a socio-linguistic phenomenon and relied on detailed qualitative interaction analysis on event-related measures of multiple observational data (i.e. log files, eye-tracking data).
