Stable Images and Discriminants

We show that the discriminant/image of a stable perturbation of a germ of finite \(\mathcal {A}\)-codimension is a hypersurface with the homotopy type of a wedge of spheres in middle dimension, provided the target dimension does not exceed the source dimension by more than one. The number of spheres in the wedge is called the discriminant Milnor number/image Milnor number. We prove a lemma showing how to calculate this number, and show that when the target dimension does not exceed the source dimension, the discriminant Milnor number and the \(\mathcal {A}\)-codimension obey the “Milnor–Tjurina relation” familiar in the case of isolated hypersurface singularities. Families of ICIS with constant total Milnor number

We show that a family of isolated complete intersection singularities (ICIS) with constant total Milnor number has no coalescence of singularities. This extends a well-known result of Gabriélov, Lazzeri and Lê for hypersurfaces. We use A’Campo’s theorem to see that the Lefschetz number of the generic monodromy of the ICIS is zero when the ICIS is singular. We give a pair applications for families of functions on ICIS which extend also some known results for functions on a smooth variety.

Kontekstem badań było to, że komentatorzy Księgi Ezechiela nie są zgodni w sprawie struktury badanych tekstów i proponują odmienne schematy. Celem badań stało się odkrycie struktury, którą starożytny autor natchniony zawarł w tekście. By osiągnąć założony cel, zastosowano metodę retoryki hebrajskiej, którą opracował Roland Meynet. W wyniku przeprowadzonych badań udało się odkryć, że sprofanowana świątynia ma strukturę paralelno-koncentryczną, składającą się z 9 elementów (A, B, C, D, E, D’, C’, B’, A’), natomiast dolina suchych kości też ma strukturę paralelno-koncentryczną, na którą składa się 5 elementów (A, B, C, B’, A’). Homeomorphic graph manifolds: A contribution to the μ constant problem

Abstract We give a characterization, in terms of homological data in covering spaces, of those maps between (3-dimensional) graph manifolds which are homotopic to homeomorphisms. As an application we give a condition on a cobordism between graph manifolds that guarantees that they are homeomorphic. This in turn is applied to give a partial result on the μ -constant problem in (complex) dimension three.

Analysis of the influence of the Treaty of Lisbon on the EU immigration reguiations with particular attention to the principle of solidarity and fair sharing of responsibility between Member States indicates that the Treaty of Lisbon extensively reformed these reguiations. Its premise and mechanisms should be assessed as justified. However, they give a lot ofleeway for interpretation and need to be supplemented with EU secondary law. Cyril of Jerusalem, the author of the Catechesis delivered to the catechumens and the newly baptized, gave the teachings of Jesus Christ on the basis of the Symbol in force in Jerusalem, and above all on the basis of the Holy Scriptures. He readily referred to the books of the Old and New Testaments, quoting literal citations or paraphrasing individual biblical ideas. Among the frequently quoted biblical books is also the St. Paul’s Epistle to the Romans, which was used by Cyril almost 40 times.
