Comparison of pharyngeal airway volume in different skeletal facial patterns using cone beam computed tomography

Background This study aimed to compare the pharyngeal airway volume in class I,II and III skeletal malocclusion patients using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). Material and Methods This retrospective, cross sectional study was conducted on lateral cephalograms of 71 patients derived from their CBCT scans. Using the ANB angle, the patients were divided into class I,II and III malocclusion. Two observers used Dolphin 3D software to calculate the pharyngeal airway volume, airway area, minimum axial area, minimum area location, airway length and morphology. The influence of crossbite in early development of mandibular bone asymmetries in paediatric patients

BACKGROUND All authors agree that posterior crossbite is a malocclusion that affects mandibular growth and may lead to skeletal asymmetry but there are few data on which age these modifications are easily quantifiable. A skeletal Class III malocclusion with agenesis and canine-bicuspid transposition: a nonsurgical approach

Abstract Background The present case report describes the orthodontic management of a patient who presented with a skeletal Class III malocclusion combined with other dental anomalies. The malocclusion was complicated by agenic maxillary lateral incisors and a lower right second premolar, in company with the transposition of the maxillary canines and premolars. Treatment of Class III malocclusion using Hybrid Hyrax, Face Mask and Alt-RAMEC Protocol : a case report in a latin-american patient

The management of Class III malocclusion is one of the greatest challenges of orthodontics. Current treatments offer the possibility of using direct skeletal anchorage to improve clinical outcomes. This case shows the results of using a Hyrax hybrid palatal anchorage, Alt-RAMEC (Alternate Rapid Maxillary Expansion and Contraction protocol) and a facemask to treat a maxillary hypoplasia Class III malocclusion in a Latin-American patient. The appliance design and the protocol used are widely described. Background To assess the efficacy of a multibracket appliance-Straight-wire Mirabella (SWM) prescription-in terms of achieving the ideal first-, second- and third-order values proposed by Andrews. Material and methods A total sample of 46 Caucasian subjects was divided into two groups: 23 with class I malocclusion (Group 1), and 23 with class II malocclusion (Group 2).
