The measurement of solid particle distribution in turbulent multiphase flow is not simple and the development of suitable measurement techniques is still in progress. A physical model for the interaction between unsaturated soils and retaining structures

Temporary and permanent retaining structures interact with soils that are usually in unsaturated conditions. In this work, a 1g-scale physical model is presented to investigate the interactions between retaining walls and unsaturated soils. The physical model is equipped with a water-filled hydraulic cylinder connected to a pressure-volume controller to measure the horizontal component of the later earth thrust and high capacity tensiometers to measure soil matric suction. Discharge estimation combining flow routing and occasional measurements of velocity

A new procedure is proposed for estimating river discharge hydrographs during flood events, using only water level data at a single gauged site, as well as 1-D shallow water modelling and occasional maximum surface flow velocity measurements. One-dimensional diffusive hydraulic model is used for routing the recorded stage hydrograph in the channel reach considering zero-diffusion downstream boundary condition. We have previously shown in the Drosophila Genetic Reference Panel (DGRP) that resistance to infection is highly heritable, but our understanding of how the effects of genetic variants affect different molecular mechanisms to determine gut immunocompetence is still limited. En este trabajo damos las claves para diseñar un conjunto de tubos sonoros de PVC que permiten realizar una ejecución musical en grupo con la participación de un gran número de personas sin cultura musical previa. Proponemos además la utilización de los tubos para el estudio cuantitativo de los fenómenos físicos involucrados en la generación del sonido con instrumentos de viento. Se describe la utilización de los tubos sonoros, en combinación con un ordenador y un programa de análisis de sonido, para el análisis de ondas estacionarias y la determinación de la velocidad de propagación del sonido en el aire mediante distintos procedimientos.
The Influence of Fatigue on Throwing and YBT-UQ Performance in Male Adolescent Handball Players

Purpose: The goal of the present study was to assess the effects of fatigue on throwing and Upper Quarter Y Balance Test (YBT-UQ) performance in male adolescent handball players. We hypothesized that throwing and YBT-UQ performance will be decreased in response to an upper-body fatigue-protocol.Method: All male participants (N = 24, age: 14.8 ± 0.7 yrs) were handball players of a regional youth selection team.
