The study of the relationship between extreme rainfall events and surface temperature represents an important issue in hydrology and meteorology and it could be of capital importance for evaluating the effect of global warming on future precipitation. Various approaches have been tested across different parts of the world, and, in many cases, it has been observed an intensification of precipitation with increasing temperature consistently with the thermodynamic Clausius-Clapeyron relation (CC-rate of 6-7% °C-1), according to which a warmer atmosphere is capable of holding more moisture. Western Central European Loess-Palaeosol-Sequences (LPS) provide valuable terrestrial records of palaeoenvironmental conditions, which formed in response to variability in the North Atlantic climate systems. Over the last full glacial cycle (~130 ka), climate oscillations within these systems are best documented in deep sea and ice cores; the responses of terrestrial systems are not yet fully understood. The biodiversity of nitrogen-fixing organisms is huge. Taxonomic and phylogenetic research is needed to structure this diversity, to facilitate communication among scientists, and to increase our understanding of the evolution and biology of diazotrophs. Molecular tools for taxonomic and biodiversity studies of diazotrophic rhizobia, frankiae, cyanobacteria and bacilli are presented in sections 2 to 5. Sections 6 to 9 focus on problems with genus and species assignment.

OBJECTIVES: Inhumations in so-called settlement pits and multiple interments are subordinate burial practices of the Early Bronze Age Unětice culture in central Germany (2200-1700/1650 BC). The majority of the Unětice population was entombed as single inhumations in rectangular grave pits with a normative position of the body. The goal of the study was to test archaeological hypotheses that the deviant burials may represent socially distinct or nonlocal individuals.
