No Safe Haven for Truth Pluralists
2021
Truth pluralism offers the latest extension in the tradition of substantive theorizing about truth. While various forms of this thesis are available, most frameworks commit to domain reliance. According to domain reliance, various ways of being true, such as coherence and correspondence, are tied to discourse domains rather than individual sentences. From this follows that the truth of different types of sentences is accounted for by their domain membership. For example, sentences addressing ethical matters are true if they cohere and those addressing extensional states of affairs if they correspond. By tying distinct truth-grounding properties to domains rather than individual sentences, t…
Truth in Fiction Reconsidered
2018
Possible and narrative worlds are traditionally the most influential tools for explaining our understanding of fiction. One obvious implication of this is considering fiction as a matter of pretence. The theory I offer claims that it is a mistake to take truth as a substantial notion. This view rejects possible worlds and pretence as decisive features in dealing with fiction. Minimalist theory of fiction offers a solution that gives a way to combine a philosophical theory of meaning and views of literary theory. Narrative worlds approach saves its usefulness since its focus is more in the psychological process of reading. Minimalist theory of fiction is based on the minimal theory of truth …
Verità e discorso. Heidegger e la fenomenologia aristotelica
2022
The research critically examines the attribution to Aristtele of the fatal aporia between the phenomenological instance of an intuitive and pre-categorical truth and the hermeneutic instance of an originally linguistic articulation of the truth itself conducted by Heidegger radicalizing the polarization between the truth of the nous and the truth of dianoia. At the same time, the value of Heidegger's reading is highlighted, which inaugurates a phenomenological direction of Aristotelian studies inspired by the assumption that for the Stagirite concrete realities must be understood starting from a concretion of physis and logos. The phenomenological approach according to which there is no nee…

Peritoneal tuberculosis in the differential diagnosis with peritoneal carcinomatosis: Case report and literature review
2012
Tuberculosis is a severe public health problem in developing countries, but it is taking on the characteristics of a global epidemic. By virtue of migration flows, in fact, we are observing a resurgence of this disease in western countries, in all its forms including the genital one. The problem became more serious with the emergence of multidrug-resistant mutant (MDR) strains of Mycobacterium Tuberculosis. In this paper we describe a case of peritoneal tuberculosis, whose diagnosis was histologically made after laparoscopic examination. Laparoscopy proved crucial for the differential diagnosis with peritoneal carcinomatosis, particularly following the discrepancy in the results provided by…

Toivon suuntaan
2020
On the transcendental undercurrents of phenomenology: the case of the living body
2021
AbstractToday the phenomenological concept of the lived body figures centrally in several philosophical and special scientific debates. In these wide and widening fields, the concept is used with multiple different meanings. In order to clarify and delineate the debates, this paper provides an explication of the phenomenological-transcendental methods. It argues that these methods help us remove the most fundamental ambiguities of the concept of embodiment by distinguishing between the main constituents of the lived body and by illuminating their mutual relations.
