Protein expression profiles in Bathymodiolus azoricus exposed to cadmium

2019

Proteomic changes in the "gill-bacteria complex" of the hydrothermal vent mussel B. azoricus exposed to cadmium in pressurized chambers ((Incubateurs Pressurises pour l'Observation en Culture d'Animaux Marins Profonds - IPOCAMP) were analyzed and compared with the non-exposed control group. 2-D Fluorescence Difference Gel Electrophoresis (2D-DIGE) showed that less than 1.5% of the proteome of mussels and symbiotic bacteria were affected by a short-term (24 h) Cd exposure. Twelve proteins of the more abundant differentially expressed proteins of which six were up-regulated and six were down-regulated were excised, digested and identified by mass spectrometry. The identified proteins included…

N-Glycosylation modification of proteins is an early marker of the enterocytic differentiation process of HT-29 cells

1990

International audience; The human colon cancer cell line HT-29 remains totally undifferentiated when glucose is present in the culture medium (HT-29 Glc+), while the same cells may undergo typical enterocytic differentiation after reaching confluence when grown in glucose-deprived medium (HT-29 Glc-). Recently, we demonstrated a deficiency in the overall N-glycan processing in confluent undifferentiated cells, whereas differentiated cells follow a classical pattern of N-glycosylation. The main changes in N-glycosylation observed in confluent undifferentiated cells may be summarised as follows: 1) the conversion of high mannose into complex glycopeptides is greatly decreased; 2) this decreas…

Dynamic railroad inspection using the laser-air hybrid ultrasonic technique

2006

Laser-Air Hybrid Ultrasonic Technique (LAHUT) combines laser generation with air-coupled detection of ultrasound. The technique is non-contact and has the characteristic of operating from remote distances. Acoustic wave laser-generation apparatus can be metres away from the interrogated surface while air-coupled detection standoff can be on the order of several centimetres. The technique has the unique capability of interrogating structural materials in their true industrial environment. Dynamic tests are performed on parts with complex geometry, limited accessibility and curved surfaces. Also, dark and rough finish surfaces, which significantly reduce the efficiency of optical detection te…

In vivo survival rate of rabbit morulae after vitrification in a medium without serum protein.

2000

The in vivo survival rate of rabbit morulae after vitrification in a mixture of dimethyl sulphoxide and ethylene glycol solution without protein supplement (WPS) was compared with two types of protein supplements: rabbit serum (RS) and bovine serum albumin (BSA). Significant dif- ferences were observed in the percentage of transferable embryos (undamaged embryos after devit- rification, 80.4 % versus 93.2 and 92.1 %, WPS, BSA and RS, respectively, P < 0.05) and live born rate (40.9 % versus 56.1 %, WPS and BSA, respectively, P < 0.05). Non-significant differences were, however, observed in the percentages of implanted embryos at 12 days post-ovulation induc- tion (56.7, 69.7 and 68.6 %), po…

«Prendere ad esempio». Quando padri e figli sono innamorati (con una lettura di Sen. contr. ii 6)

2018

This paper investigates the theme of erotic rivalry between father and son in Roman declamation, particularly in Ps. Quint. decl. 356, Calp. decl. 37 and, especially, in Sen. contr. ii 6. The analysis emphasizes the decisive contribution of the comedy to outlining this kind of conflict, also interpreted according to Quintilian’s theoretical reflection on this scholastica materia.

1,4 - dihidropiridīnu iedarbība uz DNS struktūru

2015

Bakalaura darba mērķis bija izpētīt deviņu 1,4-DHP atvasinājumu (alapirons, AV-153-Ca, AV-153-Mg, AV-153-Rb, etkarbatons, J-6-138, nimodipīns, nitrendipīns, PP-501) spēju pasargāt plazmīdas pTZ57R DNS struktūru hidroksilradikāla klātbūtnē, kas tika radīts ar Fentona reakcijas palīdzību in vitro. Šo īpašību izvērtēšanai, izmantojām horizontālo gēla elektroforēzes metodi. AV-153-Ca, AV-153-Mg un nitrendipīns uzrāda visizteiktākās plazmīdas DNS pasargājošās īpašības.

Characterization of PAMP/PRR interactions in European eel (Anguilla anguilla) macrophage-like primary cell cultures

2013

The eel (Anguilla anguilla) has been identified as a vulnerable species with stocks dramatically declining over the past decade. In an effort to support the species from overfishing of wild stocks increased interest in eel aquaculture has been notable. In order to expand the scarce knowledge concerning the biology of this species significant research efforts are required in several fields of biology. The development of cell culture systems to study the immune response is a key step towards an increased understanding of the immune response and to develop resources to support further study in this threatened species. Macrophages are one of the most important effector cells of the innate immun…

Onko haarniskan sisällä elämää? : postmodernia hahmoanalyysia Orlando Furiososta

2012

The study introduces Orlando Furioso, which is in Finland quite unfamiliar Renaissance poem by Ludovico Ariosto, and focuses on observation of the i…
