A Shape-based Statistical Method to Retrieve 2D TRUS-MR Slice Correspondence for Prostate Biopsy

International audience; This paper presents a method based on shape-context and statistical measures to match interventional 2D Trans Rectal Ultrasound (TRUS) slice during prostate biopsy to a 2D Magnetic Resonance (MR) slice of a pre-acquired prostate volume. Accurate biopsy tissue sampling requires translation of the MR slice information on the TRUS guided biopsy slice. However, this translation or fusion requires the knowledge of the spatial position of the TRUS slice and this is only possible with the use of an electro-magnetic (EM) tracker attached to the TRUS probe. A green, one-step approach for the preparation of graphene/Ag nanocomposites (PE-HRG-Ag) via simultaneous reduction of both graphene oxide (GRO) and silver ions using Pulicaria glutinosa plant extract (PE) as reducing agent is reported. The plant extract functionalizes the surfaces of highly reduced graphene oxide (HRG) which helps in conjugating the Ag NPs to HRG. Increasing amounts of Ag precursor enhanced the density of Ag nanoparticles (NPs) on HRG. The preparation of PE-HRG-Ag nanocomposite is monitored by using ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX). This article aims to analyse critically the so-called “new realism” and to evaluate its pedagogical and educational consequences. By examining the objections made by this philosophy to the postmodernist culture, the author agrees on some aspects of its theory of knowledge. On the other hand, the article highlights the lack of adequate anthropology and possible consequences of the “new realism” on educational thought and practice. The proposal of an ontology of the person wellestablished in the tradition of phenomenological realism is seen as dialectics of the “new realism”.

La tesi sviluppata in quest’articolo è che esista un legame tra l’atto di parola e un atto per così dire morale. Questo legame troverebbe un fondamento nell’accezione specifica di moralità che si lega alla contemplazione dell’arte. Ciò che rende specifica la fruizione estetica è, come dice Emilio Garroni, quell’interesse disinteressato che non ha di mira la strumentalizzazione dell’oggetto osservato. È possibile individuare un’analogia tra questo tipo di “appropriazione” del mondo per mezzo dei sensi e quello messo in atto dal linguaggio in ogni comune atto linguistico?

The hydraulic resistance of the surface crust was determined by a combination of two infiltrometric techniques: first, a surface measurement of steady-state infiltration rate is conducted by a mini-disk tension infiltrometer (MDI); then, the surface crust is removed, its thickness is measured, and a ponded infiltration test is performed at the same site.
