A posteriori error majorants of the modeling errors for elliptic homogenization problems

In this paper, we derive new two-sided a posteriori estimates of the modeling errors for linear elliptic boundary value problems with periodic coefficients solved by homogenization. Our approach is based on the concept of functional a posteriori error estimation. The estimates are obtained for the energy norm and use solely the global flux of the non-oscillatory solution of the homogenized model and solution of a boundary value problem on the cell of periodicity.

However, western monist positions have mostly explicitly or implicitly directed conservation strategies by defining the space of legitimate arguments, overlooking solutions that do not fit neatly the chosen approaches. As ignoring diverse ethical positions leads to injustices and reduces the potential of conserving biodiversity, there is a need to recognise and navigate the ethical landscape. Colorimetric quantitation of trace amounts of sodium lauryl sulfate in the presence of nucleic acids and proteins

A fast and sensitive procedure for the colorimetric detection of sodium lauryl sulfate (SDS) is presented. The assay is based upon the formation of a chloroform-extractable ion pair between lauryl sulfate and methylene blue that is quantified spectrophotometrically with an estimated detection limit of 150 ng of SDS. The method is suitable for the monitoring of contaminating traces of SDS in protein or nucleic acid samples that have the potential to interfere with enzymatic manipulations such as proteolytic digest, restriction analysis, or reverse transcription. The history of the parishioners’ right to participate in and influence the choice of local clergy in Sweden and Finland can be taken back as far as the late Medieval Times. The procedures for electing clergymen are described in historiography as a specifically Nordic feature and as creating the basis of local self-government. In this article the features of local self-government are studied in a context where the scope for action was being modified. The focus is on the parishioners’ possibilities and willingness to influence the appointment of pastors in the Lutheran parishes of the Russo-Swedish borderlands in the 18th century. 1960- ja 1970-luku olivat aikakauslehtimarkkinoilla kovan kilpailun aikaa. Ilmari Turjan luotsaama Uusi Kuvalehti oli joutunut taloudellisiin vaikeuksiin sillä seurauksella, että se myytiin Uuden Suomen lehtitalolle 1960-luvun alussa. Lehtitalo päätti ratkaista omistansa Naisten Maailma –lehden menekkiin liittyvät ongelmat yhdistämällä sen hankkimansa Uuden Kuvalehden kanssa.
