Measurement of the tt¯ production cross section using dilepton events in pp¯ collisions

We present a measurement of the a production cross section sigma((u) over bar) in p (p) over bar collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV using 5.4 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity collected with the D0 detector. We consider final states with at least two jets and two leptons (ee, e mu, mu mu), and events with one jet for the e mu final state as well. The measured cross section is sigma((u) over bar) = 7.36(-0.79)(+0.90)(stat + syst) pb. This result combined with the cross section measurement in the lepton + jets final state yields sigma((u) over bar) = 7.56(-0.56)(+0.63)(stat + syst) pb, which agrees with the standard model expectation. Measurement of theWZ→ℓνℓℓcross section and limits on anomalous triple gauge couplings inpp¯collisions ats=1.96TeV

We present a new measurement of the WZ -> lvll (l = e, mu) cross section and limits on anomalous triple gauge couplings. Using 4.1 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity of p (p) over bar collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV, we observe 34 WZ candidate events with an estimated background of 6.0 +/- 0.4 events. We measure the WZ production cross section to be 3.89(-0.90)(+1.07) pb, in good agreement with the standard model prediction. We find no evidence for anomalous WWZ couplings and set 95% C.L. limits on the coupling parameters, -0.077 < lambda(z) < 0.093 and -0.029 < Delta kappa(z) < 0.080 in the HISZ parameterization for a Lambda = 2 TeV form factor scale. Prospects of conventional and exotic bottomonium physics at Belle II

2018

Abstract Belle II is a next generation B-factory experiment at the SuperKEKB collider. In early 2019 the fully operational detector will start taking data. The goal is to collect an integrated luminosity of 50 ab -1 , a statistics 50 times larger than the one collected by its predecessor Belle. Belle II offers the most promising prospects for bottomonium physics in the next decade, since experimentally only high-luminosity e + e - colliders can collect enough statistics to fully exploit the potential of this sector. The current status of the experiment will be presented, together with the perspectives for studies of conventional and exotic quarkonium-like states.

Measurement ofCPviolation inBs0→ϕϕdecays

2014

A measurement of the decay time-dependent CP-violating asymmetry in B-s(0) -> phi phi decays is presented, along with measurements of the T-odd triple-product asymmetries. In this decay channel, the CP-violating weak phase arises from the interference between B-s(0) -(B) over bar (0)(s) mixing and the loop-induced decay amplitude. Using a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1) collected with the LHCb detector, a signal yield of approximately 4000 B-s(0) -> phi phi decays is obtained. The CP-violating phase is measured to be phi(s) = -0.17 +/- 0.15(stat) +/- 0.03(syst) rad. The triple-product asymmetries are measured to be A(U) = -0.003…

Experiments with the High Resolution Kaon Spectrometer at JLab Hall C and the new spectroscopy ofΛ12Bhypernuclei

Since the pioneering experiment E89-009 studying hypernuclear spectroscopy using the (e, e’K+) reaction was completed, two additional experiments, E01-011 and E05-115, were performed at Jefferson Lab. These later experiments used a modified experimental design, the "tilt method", to dramatically suppress the large electromagnetic background, and allowed for a substantial increase in luminosity. Additionally, a new kaon spectrometer, HKS (E01-011), a new electron spectrometer, HES, and a new splitting magnet (E05-115) were added to produce new data sets of precision, high-resolution hypernuclear spectroscopy. Search for supersymmetric particles using acoplanar charged-particle pairs from Z0 decays

We have performed a search for supersymmetric particles using acoplanar pairs of oppositely-charged particles in decays of the Z0. In 0.53 pb−1 of integrated luminosity near the Z0 peak, we observe two events where approximately four are expected from background, allowing limits to be extended on combined photino and slepton masses, and also on combined photino and chargino masses.

Measurement of the W→τντ cross section in pp collisions at s=7 TeV with the ATLAS experiment

The cross section for the production of W bosons with subsequent decay W to tau nu is measured with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The analysis is based on a data sample that was recorded in 2010 at a proton-proton center-of-mass energy of sqrt(s) = 7 TeV and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 34 pb^-1. The cross section is measured in a region of high detector acceptance and then extrapolated to the full phase space. The product of the total W production cross section and the W to tau nu branching ratio is measured to be 11.1 +/- 0.3 (stat) +/- 1.7 (syst) +/- 0.4 (lumi) nb.

Search for high-mass dilepton resonances using 139 fb−1 of pp collision data collected at s=13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

A search for high-mass dielectron and dimuon resonances in the mass range of 250 GeV to 6 TeV is presented. The data were recorded by the ATLAS experiment in proton–proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of s=13 TeV during Run 2 of the Large Hadron Collider and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb −1 . A functional form is fitted to the dilepton invariant-mass distribution to model the contribution from background processes, and a generic signal shape is used to determine the significance of observed deviations from this background estimate. Search for a heavy narrow resonance decaying to eμ, eτ, or μτ with the ATLAS detector in s=7 TeV pp collisions at the LHC

This Letter presents the results of a search for a heavy particle decaying into an e^±μ^∓e^±μ^∓, or μ^±τ^∓ final state in pp collisions at View the MathML sources=7 TeV. The data were recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC during 2011 and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 4.6 fb−14.6 fb^(−1). No significant excess above the Standard Model expectation is observed, and exclusions at 95% confidence level are placed on the cross section times branching ratio for the production of an R-parity-violating supersymmetric tau sneutrino. This paper presents a measurement of the W+W- production cross section in pp collisions at root s = 7 TeV. The leptonic decay channels are analyzed using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4: 6 fb(-1) collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The W+W- production cross section sigma(pp -> W+W- + X) is measured to be 51.9 +/- 2.0(stat) +/- 3.9(syst) +/- 2.0(lumi) pb, compatible with the Standard Model prediction of 44.7(-1.9)(+2.1) pb.
