An algorithm based on the PPC (Polynomial Parametric Curve) for designing horizontal highway alignments
2015
Criteria for geometric design of highway alignments have been studied in various researches so far, providing new methods, as alternative to traditional approaches. They can be useful for obtaining better solutions, characterized by high performances in terms of motion safety and comfort. In particular, continuous curvature alignments, based on polynomial functions, are highly consistent solutions with users' driving behaviour and vehicle trajectories. Moreover, alignment geometry optimization allows engineers to minimize dynamic effects on drivers with considerable advantages in terms of comfort and safety. This paper carries on the research of a previous study, in which a polynomial param…
Growth of central polynomials of algebras with involution
2021
Let A be an associative algebra with involution ∗ over a field of characteristic zero. A central ∗-polynomial of A is a polynomial in non- commutative variables that takes central values in A. Here we prove the existence of two limits called the central ∗-exponent and the proper central ∗-exponent that give a measure of the growth of the central ∗-polynomials and proper central ∗-polynomials, respectively. Moreover, we compare them with the PI-∗-exponent of the algebra.
Some remarks on Hilbert's (Weak) Nullstellensatz
2011
Certain remarks are provided related to weak nullstellensatz exploiting some problems proposed in Fulton’s book entitled “An Introduction to Algebraic Geometry” and elementary notions of Functional Analysis.
Guanosine 5'-diphosphate 3'-diphosphate (ppGpp) as a negative modulator of polynucleotide phosphorylase activity in a 'rare' actinomycete.
2010
Abstract With the beginning of the idiophase the highly phosphorylated guanylic nucleotides guanosine 5'-diphosphate 3'-diphosphate (ppGpp) and guanosine 5'-triphosphate 3'-diphosphate (pppGpp), collectively referred to as (p)ppGpp, activate stress survival adaptation programmes and trigger secondary metabolism in actinomycetes. The major target of (p)ppGpp is the RNA polymerase, where it binds altering the enzyme activity. In this study analysis of the polynucleotide phosphorylase (PNPase)-encoding gene pnp mRNA, in Nonomuraea sp. ATCC 39727 wild-type, constitutively stringent and relaxed strains, led us to hypothesize that in actinomycetes (p)ppGpp may modulate gene expression at the leve…
Lenses on very curved zones of a singular line field of ${\mathbb C}^2$ or of a singular plane field of ${\mathbb C}^3$
2020
We renormalize, using suitable lenses, small domains of a singular holomorphic line field of ${\mathbb C}^2$ or plane field of ${\mathbb C}^3$ where the curvature of a plane-field is concentrated. At a proper scale the field is almost invariant by translations. When the field is integrable, the leaves are locally almost translates of a surface that we will call {\it profile}. When the singular rays of the tangent cone (a generalization to a plane-field of the tangent cone of a singular surface is defined) are isolated, we obtain more precise results. We also generalize a result of Merle (\cite{Me}) concerning the contact order of generic polar curves with the singular level $f=0$ when $\ome…

Correspondence between generalized binomial field states and coherent atomic states
2008
We show that the N-photon generalized binomial states of electromagnetic field may be put in a bijective mapping with the coherent atomic states of N two-level atoms. We exploit this correspondence to simply obtain both known and new properties of the N-photon generalized binomial states. In particular, an over-complete basis of these binomial states and an orthonormal basis are obtained. Finally, the squeezing properties of generalized binomial state are analyzed.
Eirāzijas lūša Lynx lynx dzīvotnes raksturojums
2016
Cationic microemulsion hosting polynucleotides: Effect of NaCl on host and guest
2004
The structural features of the quaternary water-in-oil microemulsion CTAB/n-hexane/n-pentanol/water in the presence of fairly high concentrations of NaCl and of relatively high molecular weight polynucleotides have been determined. Even in these severe conditions, the hosting system can still be depicted as formed by water droplets stabilised by a surfactant/cosurfactant layer. Moreover, the time stability of the host/guest system has been evaluated and the phase behaviour of the hosting system in the presence of increasing concentrations of NaCl determined.
