Background There is an agreement to use simple formulae (expected bladder capacity and other age based linear formulae) as bladder capacity benchmark. But real normal child's bladder capacity is unknown. Fenoterol is a β<sub>2</sub>-adrenoceptor (AR)-selective agonist that is commonly used to investigate relaxation responses mediated by β<sub>2</sub>-AR in smooth muscle preparations. Some data have questioned this because fenoterol had low potency in the rat urinary bladder when a muscarinic agonist was used as a pre-contraction agent and because some investigators proposed that fenoterol may act in part via β<sub>3</sub>-AR. Are morphology and composition of gallstones related? An x-ray diffraction study

Abstract An x-ray diffractometric technique was used to study the crystalline composition of gallstones removed during surgery from 106 patients. Monohydrate cholesterol was found in the stones of 70 (66%) patients, either alone (33%) or in association with calcium salts (33%). The anhydrous form of cholesterol was found in the stones of 28 (26%) patients, either alone (10%) or in association with calcium salts (16%). These salts (vaterite, aragonite, and calcite) were found in 50% of cases in varying amounts (from 12% to 15% of the stone weight). Ethanol inhibits proliferation in astrocytes, an effect that was recently linked to the suppression of phosphatidic acid (PA) formation by phospholipase D (PLD). The present study investigates ethanol's effect on the induction of apoptosis in astrocytes and the formation of ceramide, an apoptotic signal. Evidence is presented that the formation of PA and ceramide may be reciprocally linked during ethanol exposure. In cultured rat cortical astrocytes, ethanol (0.3–1 %, v/v) induced nuclear fragmentation and DNA laddering indicative of apoptosis. Hermann et al. [1] suggest that minimum quality criteria are needed to communicate unexpected drug safety findings from randomized clinical trials and imply that our report on unexpected frequent hepatotoxicity in patients receiving flupirtine for the treatment of overactive bladder syndrome [2] does not meet such criteria. As the brief report format of our paper did not allow an extensive description of trial details, we welcome this opportunity to shed more light on the matter.

Some remarks on few recent results on the damped quantum harmonic oscillator

Abstract In a recent paper, Deguchi et al. (2019), the authors proposed an analysis of the damped quantum harmonic oscillator in terms of ladder operators. This approach was shown to be partly incorrect in Bagarello et al. (2019), via a simple no-go theorem. More recently, (Deguchi and Fujiwara, 2019), Deguchi and Fujiwara claimed that our results in Bagarello et al. (2019) are wrong, and compute what they claim is the square integrable vacuum of their annihilation operators. In this brief note, we show that their vacuum is indeed not a vacuum, and we try to explain what is behind their mistakes in Deguchi et al. (2019) and Deguchi and Fujiwara (2019). Closure relations during the plateau emission of Swift GRBs and the fundamental plane

The Neil Gehrels Swift observatory observe Gamma-Ray bursts (GRBs) plateaus in X-rays. We test the reliability of the closure relations through the fireball model when dealing with the GRB plateau emission. We analyze 455 X-ray lightcurves (LCs) collected by \emph{Swift} from 2005 (January) until 2019 (August) for which the redshift is both known and unknown using the phenomenological Willingale 2007 model. Using these fits, we analyze the emission mechanisms and astrophysical environments of these GRBs through the closure relations within the time interval of the plateau emission. EXTRACTION OF INFRARED DIVERGENCES IN THE DIMENSIONAL REGULARIZED TWO-LOOP LADDER GRAPH

We consider the evaluation of the fundamental scalar integral in the on-shell two-loop ladder graph with different external masses and arbitrary transfer momentum. A method for cleanly extracting the infrared divergences in the Feynman parameter integrals using dimensional regularization is presented, and we analyze one of the finite part contributions to this integral.

Susy for non-Hermitian Hamiltonians, with a view to coherent states

We propose an extended version of supersymmetric quantum mechanics which can be useful if the Hamiltonian of the physical system under investigation is not Hermitian. The method is based on the use of two, in general different, superpotentials. Bi-coherent states of the Gazeau-Klauder type are constructed and their properties are analyzed. Some examples are also discussed, including an application to the Black-Scholes equation, one of the most important equations in Finance.
