Mobile phone use and social generations in rural India

This article avails the concept of social generation to explore how intergenerational differences contribute to the diversity in the appropriation of mobile telephony in rural India. Rural India has experienced numerous social changes such as the decline of agriculture, changes in caste and gender relationships, and rising levels of education which have influenced different age groups in distinct ways during recent decades. The article is based on interviews, observation, and survey data on the use of mobile phones in a village in rural West Bengal during 2005, 2007–2008, 2010, and 2012–2013. peerReviewed

NORDCARE2-tutkimushanke on pohjoismaisen tutkijaryhmän vuonna 2015 toteuttama uusintatutkimus kymmenen vuotta aiemmasta tutkimuksesta, joka tuotti ensimmäistä kertaa vertailukelpoista tietoa hoivatyön työtehtävistä ja työolosuhteista eri Pohjoismaissa. Tämä raportti esittää hankkeen keskeisimmät tulokset suomalaisen hoivatyön näkökulmasta. NORDCARE2-hankkeen kyselyaineisto kerättiin syksyllä 2015. Suomessa tutkimuksen otoksena toimi molemmilla kerroilla Superin, JHL:n ja Tehyn vanhustyötä tekevästä jäsenkunnasta tehty satunnaisotos. Sairaanhoitajat eivät sisälly tutkimukseen. Tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan toisen asteen ammatillisen koulutuksen opiskelijahuoltoa ja sosiaalityötä hallinnan analytiikan näkökulmasta. Tarkoituksena on sosiaalityön tehtävän ja asiantuntijuuden paikantaminen oppilaitosorganisaatiossa. Olen toteuttanut tutkimukseni kolmella toisen asteen ammatillisella oppilaitoksella käyttämällä eläytymismenetelmää, jossa keskeiset opiskelijahuollon toimijat kirjoittivat sekä onnistuneeseen että epäonnistu-neeseen lopputulokseen päättyneen opiskelijahuoltotarinan laatimani kehyskertomuksen pohjalta. The unique nature of optical properties of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT), together with their promising potential applications, have created enormous interest towards the photophysics of SWCNT. Many aspects of carbon nanotubes originate from the electronic structure of carbon honeycomb lattice and one-dimensionality. SWCNTs exist in various chiral structures and diameters, which the optical and electrical properties are dependent on. Optical Monitoring of Microplastics Filtrated from Wastewater Sludge and Suspended in Ethanol.

The abundance of microplastics (MPs) in the atmosphere, on land, and especially in water bodies is well acknowledged. In this study, we establish an optical method based on three different techniques, namely, specular reflection to probe the medium, transmission spectroscopy measurements for the detection and identification, and a speckle pattern for monitoring the sedimentation of MPs filtrated from wastewater sludge and suspended in ethanol. We used first Raman measurements to estimate the presence and types of different MPs in wastewater sludge samples. We also used microscopy to identify the shapes of the main MPs. Results of DTAS Campaign at IGISOL : Overview

The β decays of more than twenty fission fragments were measured in the first experiments with radioactive-ion beams employing the Decay Total Absorption γ-ray Spectrometer. In this work, we summarize the main results obtained so far from this experimental campaign carried out at the Ion Guide Isotope Separator On-Line facility. The advances introduced for these studies represent the state-of-the-art of our analysis methodology for segmented spectrometers. peerReviewed
