Why being there mattered : staged transparency at the International Criminal Court

The International Criminal Court (ICC) represents a criminal justice setting exceptionally welcoming to discourse scholars. The court website provides ample information about ongoing cases, hearings are livestreamed, and transcripts, video footage, and other relevant documents are available online. Against this background of comprehensive transparency, this paper explores the additional value of physically attending ICC trial hearings. The MARA-LEB ion transport system

A low-energy branch is under development for the MARA vacuum-mode recoil separator at the Accelerator Laboratory of the University of Jyväskylä. This development will allow for the study of proton-rich nuclei through laser ionisation spectroscopy and mass measurements. After stopping and extraction from a buffer gas cell, the ions of interest will be accelerated and transported to dedicated experimental setups by an ion transport system consisting of several focusing, accelerating and mass-separating elements. Mass testing and characterization of 20-inch PMTs for JUNO

Main goal of the JUNO experiment is to determine the neutrino mass ordering using a 20 kt liquid-scintillator detector. Its key feature is an excellent energy resolution of at least 3% at 1 MeV, for which its instruments need to meet a certain quality and thus have to be fully characterized. More than 20,000 20-inch PMTs have been received and assessed by JUNO after a detailed testing program which began in 2017 and elapsed for about four years. Production of a 15C radioactive ion beam based on 18O(n, α)

In the context of the SPIRAL2 radioactive beam facility the production rate of the neutron-rich 15C nucleus by 18O(n,α) has been investigated. In a water target of 20 cm3, enriched in 18O and placed behind the neutron converter, a rate of a few 1010 nuclei per second can be reached with 1mA of 40MeV deuterons. A 18O(n,α) cross-section based on the activation method is proposed. It is intermediate between the highest and lowest evaluations available to date. peerReviewed
