Abstract In the present work, a new 1,4-disubstituted-1,2,3-triazole product, named 4-[1-(4-methoxy-phenyl)-1H-[1,2,3]triazol-4-ylmethyl]-morpholine (MPTM) was successfully synthesized under click chemistry regime. The structure of the new compound that has a rigid triazole moiety and a flexible morpholine ligand has been characterized using 1H NMR, 13C NMR, HRMS, and FTIR spectroscopy. Its inhibition performance for mild steel in acidic medium 1 M HCl has been studied by utilizing a combination of experimental, spectroscopic and computational methods. AbstractThe purpose of this work is to establish the optimal experimental conditions for the removal of methylene blue (MB-as model basic dye) from aqueous solution by adsorption onto four agro-based materials, namely, cedar sawdust, pine sawdust, wheat straw, and Provence cane Arundo donax. Results show that an increase in acidity or ionic strength of the medium has generally a negative effect on the discoloration yield. From the data of pH effect, there is no need to change the initial pH of the MB solution to be treated. Equilibrium was reached after 20−30 min of agitation when cedar sawdust, pine sawdust, and Provence cane are used as adsorbents. However, in the case of wheat straw, an …

Abstract We have investigated the binding of a new dansylcadaverine derivative of substance P (DNC-SP) with negatively charged small unilamellar vesicles composed of a mixture of phosphatidylcholine (PC) and either phosphatidylglycerol (PG) or phosphatidylserine (PS) using fluorescence spectroscopic techniques. Modeling of copper fixed-bed biosorption from wastewater by Posidonia oceanica

Biosorption of copper from aqueous solutions by Posidonia oceanica was investigated in batch and fixed-bed experiments. Batch experiments were conducted to evaluate the removal equilibrium at pH 5.0 and 6.0; experimental data were fitted to Langmuir model with maximum uptake capacities of 56.92 and 85.78 mg g(-1), respectively. Five column experiments were carried out at different feed concentrations. Breakthrough times and continuous sorption isotherm were obtained from breakthrough curves. Differences among batch and continuous isotherms were observed; the maximum uptake capacity in dynamic conditions was found in 56.70 mg g(-1) for final pH between 5.0 and 5.5. Abstract In this work we have explored the possibilities to create layered organizations of the Mn 12 single-molecule magnets using the Langmuir–Blodgett technique or attaching these clusters onto a metal surface by preparing self-assembled monolayers (SAMs). In the first part we discuss the use of the Langmuir–Blodgett (LB) technique in order to obtain organized magnetic films formed by monolayers of these clusters. Two strategies have been used with this aim. The first one consists of mixing Mn 12 acetate or benzoate derivatives with an amphiphile, while the second procedure is based on the use of Mn 12 derivatives specifically designed to form LB films. Microspectroscopy on single domains of phase-separated monolayers

SUMMARY A versatile and inexpensive, but fully equipped apparatus is presented, which enables detailed optical studies on amphiphilic molecules at the liquid-gas interface. Structural and spectroscopic information, particularly in small areas of single domains of phase-separated monolayers, can be achieved by combination of this miniaturized Langmuir trough and spectralphotometer microscope. The potential of this apparatus is demonstrated with some measurements on a diyne-substituted polymerizable lipid analogue at the air-water interface.
Homogeneous Langmuir-Blodgett Film of Double-Chain Ammonium Amphiphile Complexed with Anionic Polymer

Heterogeneous textures suggesting the coexistence of a fluid and a solid phase were found both in a surface monolayer and in a deposited Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) film of double-chain ammonium amphiphiles by fluorescence microscopy. Although an annealing of the surface monolayer at 40°C allowed crystal growth, the heterogeneous phase separation remained in the LB film. A drastic change of the fluorescence image shows that the recrystallization of the complexed monolayer with anionic polymers conducted the homogeneous monolayer.
High Resolution Sorption Studies of Argon and Nitrogen on Large Crystals of Aluminophosphate AlPO4-5 AND ZEOLITE ZSM-5

High resolution adsorption (HRADS) with argon and nitrogen at 77 K in the pressure range of 10−6 < p/p° < 0.5 were performed on large crystals of zeolite ZSM-5 (180 μm) and aluminophosphate AlPO4-5 (150 μm) using a novel volumetric device. Multi-step isotherms of both adsorptives on ZSM-5 could be observed for the first time. The adsorption followed by low temperature microcalorimetry resulted in distinct exothermic signals at the steps in the adsorption isotherms.
