Multiple solutions for nonlinear nonhomogeneous resonant coercive problems

We consider a nonlinear, nonhomogeneous Dirichlet problem driven by the sum of a \begin{document}$p$\end{document} -Laplacian ( \begin{document}$2 ) and a Laplacian. The reaction term is a Caratheodory function \begin{document}$f(z,x)$\end{document} which is resonant with respect to the principal eigenvalue of ( \begin{document}$-\Delta_p,\, W^{1,p}_0(\Omega)$\end{document} ). Using variational methods combined with truncation and comparison techniques and Morse theory (critical groups) we prove the existence of three nontrivial smooth solutions all with sign information and under three different conditions concerning the behavior of \begin{document}$f(z,\cdot)$\end{document} near zero. Multiplicity of Solutions to Elliptic Problems Involving the 1-Laplacian with a Critical Gradient Term

Abstract In the present paper we study the Dirichlet problem for an equation involving the 1-Laplacian and a total variation term as reaction.We prove a strong multiplicity result. Namely, we show that for any positive Radon measure concentrated in a set away from the boundary and singular with respect to a certain capacity, there exists an unbounded solution, and measures supported on disjoint sets generate different solutions.These results can be viewed as the analogue for the 1-Laplacian operator of some known multiplicity results which were first obtained by Ireneo Peral, to whom this article is dedicated, and his collaborators.

Optimal lower bounds for eigenvalues of linear and nonlinear Neumann problems

2013

In this paper we prove a sharp lower bound for the first non-trivial Neumann eigenvalue μ1(Ω) for the p-Laplace operator (p > 1) in a Lipschitz bounded domain Ω in ℝn. Our estimate does not require any convexity assumption on Ω and it involves the best isoperimetric constant relative to Ω. In a suitable class of convex planar domains, our bound turns out to be better than the one provided by the Payne—Weinberger inequality.

Multiple nodal solutions for semilinear robin problems with indefinite linear part and concave terms

We consider a semilinear Robin problem driven by Laplacian plus an indefinite and unbounded potential. The reaction function contains a concave term and a perturbation of arbitrary growth. Using a variant of the symmetric mountain pass theorem, we show the existence of smooth nodal solutions which converge to zero in $C^1(\overline{\Omega})$. If the coefficient of the concave term is sign changing, then again we produce a sequence of smooth solutions converging to zero in $C^1(\overline{\Omega})$, but we cannot claim that they are nodal.

We consider nonlinear (driven by the p†Laplacian) and semilinear Robin problems with indefinite potential and strong resonance with respect to the principal eigenvalue. Using variational methods and critical groups, we prove four multiplicity theorems producing up to four nontrivial smooth solutions.

Elliptic 1-Laplacian equations with dynamical boundary conditions

2018

Abstract This paper is concerned with an evolution problem having an elliptic equation involving the 1-Laplacian operator and a dynamical boundary condition. We apply nonlinear semigroup theory to obtain existence and uniqueness results as well as a comparison principle. Our main theorem shows that the solution we found is actually a strong solution. We also compare solutions with different data.

Inference of Spatio-Temporal Functions over Graphs via Multi-Kernel Kriged Kalman Filtering

Inference of space-time varying signals on graphs emerges naturally in a plethora of network science related applications. A frequently encountered challenge pertains to reconstructing such dynamic processes, given their values over a subset of vertices and time instants. The present paper develops a graph-aware kernel-based kriged Kalman filter that accounts for the spatio-temporal variations, and offers efficient online reconstruction, even for dynamically evolving network topologies. Abstract In this work, we shall deal with the critical Sobolev isotropic Brownian flows on the sphere S d . Based on previous works by O. Raimond and LeJan and Raimond (see [O. Raimond, Ann. Inst. H. Poincare 35 (1999) 313–354] and [Y. LeJan, O. Raimond, Ann. of Prob. 30 (2002) 826–873], we prove that the associated flows are flows of homeomorphisms.
