Nerva nell'Epitome de Caesaribus

2007

A case of Brucella endocarditis in association with subclavian artery thrombosis.

2012

Brucellosis is a common zoonosis, endemic in Mediterranean countries, and caused by bacteria ofBrucellagenus. Brucellosis is a systemic infection and the clinical presentation varies widely from asymptomatic and mild to severe disease. Cardiovascular complications are extremely rare. We present a case of arterial thrombosis in a previously healthy young patient withBrucellaendocarditis. Careful attention must be paid to any sign or symptom of thrombosis in patients affected by brucellosis, regardless of the presence of endocarditis and cardiovascular risk factors.

Anatomic and flow dynamic considerations for safe right axillary artery cannulation.

2013

Objectives Neuroprotection is of paramount interest in cardiac surgery. Right axillary artery cannulation is well established in aortic surgery because it significantly improves survival and outcome, but malperfusion of the right brain after direct cannulation has been reported. Anatomically, 4 vessel segments are potentially amenable for cannulation of the subclavian and axillary arteries. Clinical studies vary widely in dissection sites and cannulation techniques. We investigated critical flow dynamics in the right brain caused by arterial inflow after direct cannulation and specified cannulation positions that provide optimal cerebral perfusion. Methods Distances from the lateral margin …

Bronchial to subclavian shunt in a CF patient. A potential pitfall for embolization

2003

Bronchial artery embolization is a well accepted and widely used technique in the management of massive haemoptysis in cystic fibrosis (CF). It can be a complex procedure requiring a deep knowledge of the bronchial artery anatomy including the possible bronchial anastomoses. We report a case of complex vascular anatomy of the left bronchial artery with multiple anastomoses with the ipsilateral subclavian artery as cause of non-attempted embolization. © 2003 European Cystic Fibrosis Society. Should intentional endovascular stent-graft coverage of the left subclavian artery be preceded by prophylactic revascularisation?

2011

Thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) has emerged as a promising therapeutic alternative to conventional open aortic replacement but it requires suitable proximal and distal landing zones for stent-graft anchoring. Many aortic pathologies affect in the immediate proximity of the left subclavian artery (LSA) limiting the proximal landing zone site without proximal vessel coverage. In patients in whom the distance between the LSA and aortic lesion is too short, extension of the landing zone can be obtained by covering the LSA's origin with the endovascular stent graft (ESG). This manoeuvre has the potential for immediate and delayed neurological and vascular symptoms. Some authors, ther…

La questione identitaria nella stampa dei rusyny della Jugoslavia nel periodo interbellico

2021

This article analyses the role of the press in the development of the identity of the Rusyns from Baþka and Sirmium in the interwar period. The main data on the history and studies carried out on the community in the examined period are presented. The main part analyses the editorial policies of the «Ruski novini» edition, published by the Greek-Catholic intelligentsia of Pro-Ukrainian orientation, and «Zarja», which had Panslavic, pro-Moscow and pro-Orthodox positions.
